Thursday Poll

image from kissandmakeup.tv

I have been sick with a summer cold for the last 3 days. I'm crabby and sniffly and my throat is scratchy. Please participate to help me pass the time while I try to un-cranky myself.

1. Mascara of the Day? - Cover Girl Lash Blast and Dior Show

2. According to the
Telegraph.co.uk Women spend 3,276 hours getting ready According to them, women spend 136 days of their lives getting ready for a night out - enough time for an astronaut to fly to the moon and back 22 times. How much time do you spend getting ready before a night out on the town? - I spend about 30-40 min (40 if it involves false lashes)

3. How insane is the above statistic? - Semi-insane I would like to see how much time men spend in the bathroom "reading the news paper" each day. If you know what I mean!

4. Where were you born? - Maryland (at home no pain meds. my mother was a masochist)

5. a) Do you own Erika F? - No :-(
b) Does it live up to the hype? - a) No and b) I hope not because then I won't want it so darn badly!

6. Do you think Drugstore eye creams are as good as high end eye creams? - No. I have tried several drugstore eye creams and they all sucked. The
Sisley botanical balm at a kazillion dollars an ounce is better. But I need something less expensive. Recommendations please???

  1. 1. Maybelline Lash Stylist- this is the first time I've tried a comb mascara... I don't think I like it- it's giving length, but not the big fat lashes I crave!

    2. What's a night out on the town? :-) I'd say anywhere from 10-30 minutes depending on what level of bare face/day makeup I'm starting with.

    3. Not too insane... I enjoy putting my makeup on, so at least I'm spending all that time doing something I enjoy! And amen sister on the "reading the paper" thing- what are they DOING in there?? Talk about crazy...

    4. Tennessee. No comment on masochism. :-)

    5. I do not, and for some reason, it's not something I crave, like all the other taupe lovers I know. Go figure.

    6. I don't think so, but I don't have any hard evidence to back it up...I have bad luck with eye creams (HE and d/s) irritating my eyes. I have been wanting to try that Garnier roller ball thing for my puffy eyes...

Hope your cold gets better soon! Drink LOTS of water :-)

  2. Mascara of the Day: CG Lash Blast, I tried the Neon Yellow Maybelline one, but the da*ned stopper kept popping out. FAIL!

Night on the Town: It depends, honestly I agree with the 30-40 minute time frame. It's deciding what to wear for where I am going that always slows me down!

Insane??? I guess it depends on who you are, where you live and where you are going. I imagine if you live in NY it's going to take a lot longer than if you live in say, Harrisburg, PA as I do (or Bum Fu*K Egypt as the Pink Sith once called it)

Born: Williamsport, Pennsylvania, heavy drugs were needed, I was a 9 lb. baby and have gone downhill ever since.

Erika F. - Do not own, never have seen, so don't know if I really lemming it or not.

Eye Cream: I adore and love my L'Oreal Skin Geneisis eye serum introduced to me by cavewomen or Blogdorfgoodman blog and MUA fame.

    GET BETTER SOON!

  3. 1. Chanel Inimitable
    2. From shower through mu and hair, an hour.
    3. I don't think it's insane at all. I despise when places put together statistics like that. Not b/c it involves women and mu, but just the whole "you spend X number of days of your life sleeping or whatever." And that tells me what?
    4. Illinois.
    5. I have Erika F. and I love it!
    6. I've only tried one drugstore eye cream (Kiss My Face), but right now I'm using samples from Mario Badescu and like them. I'm not a fan of high-end skin care though.

  4. 1. Mascara of the Day? - L'Oreal Telescopic. I'm one of the rare MUAers who doesn't rotate mascaras. I'm considering the layering trick you told me last week though.

    2. According to the Telegraph.co.uk Women spend 3,276 hours getting ready According to them, women spend 136 days of their lives getting ready for a night out - enough time for an astronaut to fly to the moon and back 22 times. How much time do you spend getting ready before a night out on the town? - 90-120 minutes. 10-40 minutes for my makeup depending on the look. 30 minutes to pick out something to wear. The rest of the time? I fight with my hair.

    3. How insane is the above statistic? - Not as insane as the amount of time I've spent watching "Titanic". I've seen it 208 times. It's 3 hrs and 40 min IIRC. Think about it.

    4. Where were you born? - Bronx, NY! I was 3 days late, emergency C-section bc a sonogram on my mom showed that I had no heartbeat and no brain activity. They thought I was stillborn - I was just lazy!!

    5. a) Do you own Erika F? - No
    b) Does it live up to the hype? - I played with verybecca's. Didnt't care for it much after that.

    6. Do you think Drugstore eye creams are as good as high end eye creams? - I'm going to go out on a limb here with the following. I don't think DS skincare (minus CeraVe and some of the Clean and Clear line - mostly the newest products) is any good. I've always had the best results with middle-end or high-end skincare. I use Clinique All About Eyes Rich and I love it. I just wish it did something for discoloration.

  5. Valerie: I have the Garnier Roller ball. It feels nice but I don't think it does much for my puffiness. I gave it to my Husband since I want to get him using some sort of skincare. Plus it's not too girly for him!

Janine: I used that L'Oreal one and not too much difference. I just picked up the Olay one today. I'll let you know if it works. P.S. I love cavewoman!

Sophia: Mario Badescu has some nice stuff and it's not priced too badly either. Be careful tho. I know someone that had a horrible reaction to one of the eye treatments (cyst or something) Maybe you should give me your Erika F for safe keeping in case you have a reaction!

Joey: You need a 12 step group for that Titanic addiction! and I have been meaning to pick up some of that CeraVe stuff. Humm....
