image from kose-usa.comI got this Seikisho Mask White by Kose in a recent skincare order. I didn't have a peel off mask in my arsenal of masks and I figured this one from Kose would be a nice addition. Seikisho is from Kose-USA. Kose is slowly branching out to the US and the few products they have for skin care are decent. This peel off mask is by far not my favorite.
So apparently Seikisho claims that this mask will unclog pores to help reduce blackheads, increase clarity and add radiance to your skin, remove dirt and impurities to thoroughly clean skin and enhance translucency of your skin.
OK. True & False time
Unclog Pores = Not entirely.
Increase Clarity = Um No.
Thoroughly Clean Skin = Nope.
Enhance Translucency of Skin = ??
What does this do?
It pulls all the tiny minuscule hairs from your face as you slowly peel the mask off your face.
Done & done.
No blackheads, No radiant skin, no translucency, but my skin was smoother after use....but that could be because all the fine hairs on my face along with the first layer of my skin was removed when I peeled this mask off. There really is no telling.
The mask claims that is adheres closely to the skin surface and lifts away dullness with a mild tingling sensation. No tingling sensation unless you count the feeling of having every hair removed from your face slowly...like slowly removing a day old band-aid. The irony is that this gooey, black mask claims to whiten and brighten skin when my main result is red skin. Smooth but red.
Another problem with this product is the mess factor. It is REALLY messy as most peel off masks are but even with careful application my fingers are a mess and it's impossible to wash off. So be prepared to have black hands during and after the application.
The application is a bit tricky. It spreads inconsistently and if it's too thin, it will dry up before the rest of the mask and make it hard to peel off. Plus small bubbles form under the mask and it seems like it's not picking up anything from my skin. Oh and by the way, make sure you avoid your eyebrows and hair line. The mask wont necessarily remove them but it won't be easy to get the mask off your hair either.
The mask is heavily scented. It's almost a fabric softener dryer sheet smell. OK. I admit I like that smell and it does dissipate after a few minutes. The mask itself takes almost 20 minutes to fully dry...so have some free time (like the time it takes to write a review on a peel off mask, for example) to really let this mask dry because removing it before it's dry is a total pain in the butt.
As you can see from the ingredients below this mask has Alcohol listed as it's 2nd and 3rd ingredient. Those with dry or sensitive skin are urged to stay away from this mask. (Not by the manufacturer, but by me)
Will I buy it again?
But I love facial masks so expect to see more reviews in the future on other ones.
So is it just me? Has anyone else tried this mask and had a good experience? if so, please share your thoughts. It will be helpful for people to hear more information.
Anyone here love/hate peel off masks?
