Purchase - Hello Kitty for MAC On The Prowl Nail Polish and Milani Day Dreaming. What you don't want to hear.
So. You have been thinking about getting that gray nail polish called “On the Prowl” from the MAC Hello Kitty collection. Huh? What’s that? You already bought On the Prowl nail polish from the MAC Hello Kitty Collection? Humm. I see. So I guess you don’t want to hear about the $3.99 dupe from Milani called “Day Dreaming” that I saw at CVS yesterday do you?
OK. I won’t tell you that the Day Dreaming nail polish from Milani is also a limited edition. I won’t tell you that it looks slightly warmer in the bottle but once applied to your nails it looks almost exactly the same as the MAC polish.
I also won’t tell you that the Milani Polish is 0.45 fl oz (13.2 mL) versus MAC’s 0.34 fl oz (10 mL). so you actually get more Milani than MAC. (Math is hard)
I won’t tell you how Milani nail polish doesn’t chip as fast as MAC’s and that the brush is far superior to MAC scraggely one. Nope. I won’t mention it at all.
I also won’t tell you that while the Milani color is the exact same you do have to give it three coats to get opaque, MAC only requires 2 which I guess is a bad thing right? OK. So the advantages of having the MAC polish are that it only requires 2 coats versus three and has that adorable Hello Kitty on the bottle. The Milani bottle has the same old cheesy gold lettering. However, you can take a hello kitty sticker and put it on the Milani bottle. Then they would be almost alike.
After all. You already have that $15 polish from MAC. Why would you want to hear about a dupe from a drug store that’s less than half the price, lasts longer , has a better brush and has more product? That would be silly…right?
AND NO I DID NOT GO ONTO MY SNOW COVERED DECK WHILE WEARING MY FLIP FLOPS SO I COULD GET A PICTURE IN NATURAL SUNLIGHT FOR THIS BLOG POST! I RESENT THE MERE FACT THAT YOU EVEN BROUGHT IT UP! Oh. you didn't bring it up?. never mind then.

ROFL... I need to get one of dd's stickers now to put on mine... those are freaking identical. awesome!!
ReplyDeleteWow, I must agree, they are pretty much identical on the nail. I can't see any difference, was there any difference visible in person?
ReplyDeletei'm vastly amused, as i rarely shell out for MAC products. go drugstores!
ReplyDeleteGenius to put a sticker on the Milani bottle. ROFL
ReplyDeleteLOL I loved this post! :D MAC Hello Kitty just launched here today and I caught a look. I wasn't impressed though :P
ReplyDeleteHaha....oh, MAC, tried to fool us again....I'm going to be on the hunt like a mad woman for that Milani polish now...
ReplyDeletesnort.
ReplyDeleteI got suckered in to the MAC polish. But to be fair, I have never seen the milani color around here and sometimes LE drugstore stuff can be even trickier to track down.
Sadly I have to be content with M.A.C as I haven't found Milani stuff here in Toronto yet - of course if someone else has, please let me know oh, wait or rather don't tell me to go with Elvira's theme today.
ReplyDeleteWOW I absolutely loved your post. It was fun to read! I will definetly come back to visit as well as add your link yo my blog.
ReplyDeletePeace and light*****
Kat
This is an absolutely perfect blog engry. I'm in tears. *reminds self to look for Milani after work today*
ReplyDeleteLMAO- I love this post! But I see a difference between them on the nail! I am also a crazy nail polish person. :-)
ReplyDeleteAlso, sometimes I am honestly (and ridiculously) paying for packaging and aesthetics... not for MAC polish, but there are times when I spring for the NARS or the RBL polish because I like the look and feel of the bottle/packaging. D/S polishes often turn me off with their 'busy' packaging/lettering. Like I said- I'm a crazy person!
LOL Love the sticker!
ReplyDeleteA little bitter about the snow? Want to trade places?
Right up my alley, Elvira!
ReplyDeletelove the tone of the post ;)
I think it's pointless to buy MAC nail polishes. I've never used theirs, but drug store brands always worked for me, so I'm not complaining. :)
ReplyDeletegreat review and i LOVE the last pic. I see no point to buy MAC nail polish though...
ReplyDeleteBut then again, I don't do nails! :P
gaahhh i want that color!
ReplyDeleteNoooo... I totally got suckered..
ReplyDeleteOh my god, I love you =D
ReplyDeletePersonally, I hate On the Prowl (an therefore the dupe, too) but your little HK sticker on the Milani totally made my day!
That's a funny post...I never like MAC nail color (never liked the price, more like) but milani also kind of throws me off with the gaudy gold packaging...I had a polish from last year, and I think one is enough...
ReplyDeleteThat HG sticker on the other polish was hilarious :D
ReplyDeleteI can't see any differences either! Well, I don't have MAC or Milani here so it doesn't make a difference to me (my life is sad like that, lol) but I'm sure many girls will be happy to know there's a dupe!
LOL! love everything about this post! you're adorable
ReplyDeleteToo funny!
ReplyDeletethat sticker thing too funny!!!
