The colors in the matte collection are simple. Matte Black, Matte Smoke, Matte Burgundy and Matte Mulberry. As you may or may not know, some matte polishes dry too quickly and smear or get chunky when you apply a second coat. Not with Diamond Cosmetics. These polishes applied easily and smoothly…the black polish could have done well with one coat, but I used two for good measure. But even when I did apply a second coat it was easy and didn’t smudge. The polishes dried quickly and evenly and wore as well as most other matte polishes. That means you will get two to three days of wear versus 5 to 7 days you would get with a regular polish and a top coat. My only criticism, if you could call it one, is that the polishes aren’t matte enough. Does that make sense? They seemed to have a slight sheen to them but are still unmistakably matte, I just would like to see them even more matte and possibly with micro shimmer in them, because shimmer in matte polishes looks really cool. That’s just me.
Here is your Matte Black. Basic Black. Great as a base if you wanted to do a konad design over top perhaps. Tres chic on its own.

Matte Smoke is a wet concrete grey. It is really neat if you love gray polishes like I do. There is no hint of blue in this little matte gem…which is common with gray polishes. This one is my favorite.

Matte Burgundy is an oxblood red. Deep and vampy and matte. You may want to do three coats with this one if you aren’t careful about application, but the end result is a deep vampire like blood red.

Matte Mulberry is a light orchid purpley pink. Not my cup of tea but I can appreciate the beauty in this matte polish. I only used 2 coats on this one. It applied really nicely, but I think it wasn't suited for my skin tone.

So, are you going to indulge in the fall matte trend? If you were on the fence Diamond Cosmetics makes it easy to jump on the bandwagon for not much money. One thing I must inform you, is that most matte nail polishes work better without a base coat. If you do decide to wear these or any other matte polish remember that you might experience some staining on your nails once you remove the polish. It’s nothing that can’t be fixed with a little hydrogen peroxide and baking soda soak & scrub, but I thought I would just warn you.

oooh I love matt polishes! Mulberry is my favourite~
ReplyDeleteThat mulberry one is so awesome! Are these sold online only? I'm thinking of getting the Essie Matte topcoat instead, that way I can use it on the polishes I own. Ok, ok, it's really because I can't just buy ONE polish, what would be the fun in that? Plus I can use some of my old ones and experiment, I've got way too many as it is.
ReplyDeleteLove the grey shade, looks like opi metro chic! Must try some of these :)
ReplyDeleteI think these appeal to me because they're matte. I don't like too much attention being drawn to my hands, so I think that matte colors allow for a done nail but it's not too OTT, you know?
ReplyDeleteI like the grey and mulberry!:D
