Guest Review by Joeybunny -Purchase -- NARS Makeover and Meeting Mr. François Nars Himself!

So today, I met François Nars. Yes, that Nars. As in, NARS Orgasm. The gorgeous Mr. Nars made an appearance today at Saks in NYC, and I was lucky enough to snag a space in line to meet him and to get a makeover with one of NARS’ global makeup artists. With a wish list containing the Habanera eyeshadow duo and Montenegro cream blush in hand, my darling friend Daphne accompanied me on what was probably the best day ever.

Daphne sat with my digital camera in hand as Marco, my artist, got started on my face. I told him right away what I wanted to try, and he incorporated some of the NARS Fall collection into my look. There was NARS Sheer Glow foundation on my face (which felt great and looked great but honestly, Punjab was not my skin match - a shade too light), concealer, loose powder (which was too dark - more on this later), and Laguna bronzer. My eyes - a cream shadow as base (it was a gorgeous color but NARS cream shadows crease like hell, and it ended up doing a number on my eye look), Habanera and Brousse eyeshadow duos (why he used the green in Habanera as a highlight color is beyond me, but ok...), the new black liquid liner pen and Night Porter eyeshadow to tightline, and mascara. My cheeks were Montenegro, clearly. My lips - Toundra Velvet Matte lip pencil (sigh, gorgeous deep color for fall), Mitzi lip liner (I think), and Greek Holiday gloss.

Well, despite the tons of compliments I received on my face, the foundation oxidized pretty much immediately (Daphne said it was because of the powder), and my eye makeup creased immediately too (NARS cream shadows crease so, so badly). Oh, and MINT GREEN HIGHLIGHT UNDER MY BROWS?! Enough said. I couldn’t go outside like that, let alone to meet François, so I wiped off some of the eye makeup! After Daphne received a quick but equally misguided makeover (her face was made three shades darker by a powder foundation), I paid for my small haul of Habanera, Montenegro, and Toundra and went to meet Nars.

Well, not only did I have my ancient copy of “Makeup Your Mind” autographed, but I got a picture with the maestro himself. François was handsome, and incredibly sweet. We talked for a few minutes about my love for the line, and how excited I was to meet him, and how he’s my makeup hero. He was so gracious and complimented me and stroked my hands. Clearly, I broke down immediately after saying good-bye. Thank you Daphne, for keeping me from collapsing on 5th Avenue!

Well, what are two unhappily made-over girls in the city supposed to do? Go to Bergdorf Goodman to get re-madeover! I took Daphne to my beloved Hettie and Caroline at Paul and Joe, where we spent over an hour playing with products and having our faces redone. Daphne was thrilled to find a red she felt comfortable in, an amazing foundation match in their new Protective Fluid foundation, and took home a sample of the foundation along with some skincare. As for me, I have a makeover scheduled with Paul and Joe for this Saturday, so I placed my order for the new Holiday collection early (Hettie spoils me and let me see the new products early!), along with some other products. Oh, and Hettie completely redid my makeup; I had a gorgeous shiny deep pink with bronze and gold eyes.

And as of right now, more than six hours later, my eye makeup is still perfect! I ate so my lips disappeared, sadly. It’s good to know I have somewhere to go where I’ll always have a great makeover, with incredible service (Hettie personally made me some skincare samples! I adore her!). Of course, that’s not to say I didn’t have fun at NARS - I did! My makeover was funky and dark, but it just didn’t last, sadly. However, I hope I have better luck on my own with the products. And hey, I would have gone through the worst makeover ever just to meet François. He was so worth it all, and he really made my day!

  2. I love the green highlight myself, but it's an edgier fashion look. Would've liked to seen a photo if your e/s hadn't creased. The Paul & Joe look is very nice on you, but not too original makeup wise.

  3. Awww, Bunny I'm so happy you had a good day! He stroked your hand? I DIE! Love the P & J lippie your wearing, what is it? Daphne is rockin that red lipstick too. Thanks for letting us live vicariously through you! *kisses*

  4. Natalie - It was awesome! The green highlight could have worked if it wasn't so heavy and had it not slid allover my eyelid and eyebrows immediately =/

Anon - ITA with you. My NARS makeover was very editorial and cool to look at. But I really couldn't walk around in daylight like that. The green on my brows was too heavy. My friend Daphne tried to get a picture of my eyes but it really creased pretty much immediately =( the closest she got were the pics featured in the beginning of my entry!

Cindy - *smothers with kisses* Francois also told me I was gorgeous and had a great face for makeup and I shook like crazy! I think he was trying to hold me steady! =D I thought Daphne looked great in that NARS red too (it's Shanghai Express) but the rest of her makeup wasn't great. I wish I got pics of her while we were at Paul and Joe; the red she was given there was phenomenal on her!

  7. Thanks for posting more pictures! Your hair is amazing and to die for and I loved your green scarf. Perhaps that is why the artist got carried away with the green, lol. It does look lovely on you though!

  9. Ditto what Lina said... I am guessing he is trying to match your brow highlight with your scarf (I love the habanera duo though...just not right under brows...)

P.S. I love your hair as well!

  10. Lina and Citrine - I wore the scarf purposely because I knew I was buying Habanera! =) still, it's no excuse for the MA to use that color as a highlight! And thank you for the compliments on my hair! People often think it's fake when it really isn't =)

Beccer - Beccer. I haz a sowwy for getting you to spend so much money, but I tried to be all cute to make up for it. Oh and my scarf was like $2-3 on Canal Street LOL!

  11. I love Habanera, but I wear the green buffed into my crease and inner corner of mobile lid. That green is really pigmented - can't imagine using it to highlight browbone!

So envious of you getting to meet the gorgeous Francois! Great great post.

Jojoba - Oh Francois was SO HOT! And thank you for the compliments! Everyone on MUA and here seems so entranced by my hair when I just see it as a (pretty) hassle. LOL!

  16. Love this post Miss Joeybunny and Pink Sith!

I would have got all tongue tied and maybe blurted out "Bring Zulu back"....like a dork. I love that he had stroked your hands. It was so sweet and made me love him a little more.

Miss Joey: I always knew you were sweet, fun and super cool....but dear lawd...you are STUNNING. Bananas. To die for. Traffic stopping.

  17. Annie - HI!! Oh you should have heard me, I was rambling to him at a mile a minute, just blabbing about everything. I should have told him to bring Lolita back, now that I think about it. Francois was so gracious.

And thank you so much for your sweet compliments =D you just made me blush!! xoxoxo
