Guerlain Rouge G Lipstick - I Caved

image from nordstrom.com

I'm a hypocrite. Plain and simple. I am a hypocrite, I'm weak and I'm a sucker.
Why such self loathing?
One word: Lipstick.
More specifically. Guerlain Rouge G Lipstick. You can read my rant all about this lipstick here.
Yep. That was me just a few months ago. Ranting and raving over how crazy Guerlain was to come out with this lipstick and how insane the price was and blah, blah, blah.
But then I got a code.
I have no strength when it comes to codes.
Trust me. I know a lot of ladies that would sell their first born for a 25% off coupon for some items. OK. I'll admit I don't actually know these women, nor am I one of them. Don't worry, Darthypie is safe & sound at home, but I imagine in the lifetime of humanity there must have been at least one woman to sacrifice a child for 25% off. I mean it's gotta be statistically possible right?
Anyway.
I got a code and I HAD to act.
So what did I purchase w/ my code?
Guerlain Rouge G Lipstick in Gracia # 66.

Even today, when I type it all out it stings just a bit. I mean I was SO adamant that I was NOT going to buy one of these lipsticks. But a code! Come on! You know you would too.
OK. Enough about my hypocrisy.

How is the lipstick?
I won't go on and on about the design of the lipstick, with the pop up mirror and the hefty metal white gold toned case. Nope. that's all been gushed over in my original post. Yes. all that stuff is completely awesome and should not be brushed aside, but what about the lipstick formula itself? OH MY GOD! It IS as awesome as they say it is!

First of all. the color I chose is THE PERFECT PLUM!

In the 1980's my flute teacher, Karen Johnson, always wore the most awesome plum lipstick. (Why a flute teacher wore lipstick is beyond me, but that's besides the point) I have searched for decades for that perfect plum and now Guerlain Rouge G in Gracia has delivered it...with a modern twist (shimmer) to make it looks fanfuckintabulus!
As an aside. You know I'm a total makeup freak that I a) remember my flute teacher's lipstick from over 20 years ago and b) I have been searching for a duplicate.

Second of all, the lipstick is insanely pigmented and long lasting. I won't say that it stains my lips but it seems to last well though my morning cuppa tea. I don't have to reapply it as often as I do when I wear the Guerlain Kiss Kiss formula which is a big plus.

Lastly, this lipstick is very moisturizing ,more so than the Kiss Kiss formula. I will even venture to say that this lipstick almost seemed to improve the condition of my lips the longer I wore it.

Do you need this? Well, the price is rather prohibitive, but if you get a deal, a code, or a % off, then go for it. It really is all that Guerlain says it is. As for me, the color cannot be beat. I'm completely in love with this lipstick.

  3. NO!!!!

Alright - where is this code you speak of? I played flute too in the 5th grade circa 1985 but my flute player was too much hippie to even run a comb through her hair let alone lip balm!

  6. no shit! you caved! it may be me the next! OMG! it's fabulous on you and I don't blame you why you caved. i am glad Guerlain has moved away from me to CBD where I hardly go or else I may just run out to grab on this morming! I thank God for that! I don't particularly like KissKiss but since you said this is better, I'd keep it in mind.

    love you!

  11. Marley: Good idea. Just ignore this post. Nothing to see here. move along!

Jamilla: I thought of you when I posted this. You were one of the ones that told me, despite my rants, how wonderful they are. I must now say YOU WERE RIGHT!.

Lexi: The code was for me to come back to a store and buy from them. Strawberrynet.com. The cost was already reduced 12% then I got a 10% we miss you bonus + my 10% Loyalty bonus (b/c I have purchased from them in the past) and then a 5% 3 items or more in one purchase bonus which brings the price down to 37% off. So the l/s only cost me $28

Mona: TY! ITA. If I HAD to pay full price I wouldn't have purchased it.

Cindy: LOL. I'm neutral. I can wear both cool & warm colors. That doesn't help does it?

Jojoba: Thanks! Yeah. keep it in mind. The price tag is so high tho.

FairyRebel: Thanks Sweetie! Nice to "see" you here!

Joey: Thank you! 09 is pretty. For sure! The price is definitely ridiculous.

Beck: Thanks! A 2nd blog featuring that color. It MUST BE A SIGN. You should get it!

Paris: Oooh. Grace is so pretty too! It's insane that we both want another! LOL

  13. Hi Tina:
Thanks for your comment. I would say that The Rouge G is FAR MORE moisturizing than the Rouge Automatique. :-)
