L'Occitane Rosebud Hand Cream

image from usa.loccitane.com

Is it wrong to swoon over a hand cream?
Even if the had cream contains 20% shea butter and smells like roses?
Yeah. I didn't think so.
It's perfectly normal to swoon over L'Occitaine Rosebud Hand Cream with 20% Shea Butter.
Thanks. I feel better now.

You see. I'm new to this hand cream stuff. I have usually had moderately oily skin, so I never really had to bother with hand creams until recently. I guess the big change was when I realized I was OLD and it was WINTER at the same time. Being OLD and having the season be WINTER makes your skin go kablooey!

First of all, my hands felt tight and itchy. According to normal people, these symptoms mean you might have dry skin..or an allergic reaction to walnuts. I decided to explore the dry skin theory first.

According to my findings, my skin was indeed dry. Probably because of the harsh winter weather...I never did get those cashmere lined leather gloves I wanted last year, so I'm gloveless, and because of the fact that I'm washing my hands a zillion times a day to ward off Flu & Colds so my hands have dried out.

I received the L'Occitane rosebud hand cream as a gift from Lina over at The Beauty Look Book (I won one of her contests!) and I fell in love at first squeeze.

Let's start with the tube shall we?
It's metal-ish. it's not really metal but it's plastic and it looks like metal.. I have had metal tubes and let me tell you. it sucks when the tube is squished and you end up breaking the tube and hand cream goes all over your purse. So L'Occitaine has solved this by putting the hand cream in a smart looking plastic tube that resembles a metal one. I give it a point off for having a screw top lid versus a flip top lid. Not that I'm evaluating on a point scale, but if I was I would deduct 1 point for the screw top lid. Just saying.

OK. The scent. The scent is rosebud. Check out my post about the L'Occitane Ultra Rich Body Cream in Rosebud
HERE. It smells the same. The rose scent is not synthetic, nor is it overly sweet. It's juuuuust right. Oh and the scent does linger a bit, but not so much that you feel like you smell like an old lady. OMG. I AM AN OLD LADY! I forgot. Well. It's not an overpowering scent.

OK. The Cream. Well 20% she butter is very nice. Surprisingly NOT greasy for it being so high in shea butter too! I find that the cream absorbs quickly and evenly and a little goes a long way. It's a TAD on the sticky side, but that may just be my inexperience with hand creams. Regardless, I have noticed that the more I use the L'Occitaine Shea Butter hand cream the less of it I need. It's like my skin is starting to retain moisture. Perhaps it's all in my head, but I honestly do see a difference in my hands now that I have been taking better care of them.

So do you NEED this? Well if you aren't a fan of the rosebud scent they do have other scents at L'Occitaine that you could check out. For $10 it's a tad pricey for hand cream..if you go through a lot of it. But if you are like me and only use a little bit each day, the one ounce tube will last a while so it's a must have!
