Thursday Poll

I have no idea what to get Mr. Sith for his Birthday or for the holidays. His Birthday falls near the Christmas/Hanukkah time. I like to celebrate the days separately and give separate gifts b/c it must suck having your birthday on or near a gift giving holiday and have people "cheap out" on you and give you one of those "combined" gifts. Anyway. I ask Mr. Sith for ideas and he always draws a blank. Worse yet, when he does remember he asks for something insanely expensive or basically something I don't want to buy. This year's example is: An Airbrush machine for painting his model. Of did I mention he builds models? I didn't? That's right I didn't, because he never has TIME to build them...but he does have plenty of time to buy the kits. The kits mock him whilst gathering dust in the closet. Why would I want to plunk down a few hundred bucks for yet another accessory for a hobby he has no time for? That's RIGHT. I don't. So here I am, again at a loss as to what to get him for his Birthday. I was thinking the UFC game for PS3 or perhaps the Marvel Encyclopedia but he seems very ambivalent about the whole thing. How bad would it be to get cash from your spouse for a gift? Yeah. I thought so. not a good idea. I personally would love it. No one can ever get a gift I like. I would rather have cash and then use it to buy myself something that I want. (makeup). I propose every year that for the holidays Mr. Sith and I should each get $50 and go buy ourselves something and that will be our gift to each other. But he's all sentimental and romantic and wants gifts to "mean" something. Ugh. Laaaame. I try to tell him that I would MEAN a lot to me to get a new Chanel blush but he's not going for it. Oh well. I'll wear him down eventually.
On to the poll!

1. Blush Of The Day? - Chanel Joues Contrast in Narcisse. I have a BIG dip in this JC but no pan yet. TRUST me. when I hit pan you all will be the first to know.

2. What would YOU buy a guy that loves Marvel Comics, Wolverine, 1st person Shooter; Fighting and NFL PS3 Games, Washington Redskins Football and Science? - Do you honestly think if I knew the answer I would be asking?

3. What body wash are you using right now? - Currently I'm using Soap & Glory Clean On Me. I love the scent and it's fairly moisturizing. But I'm sure I could find something better. But I'm one of those use it up before I buy a new one, Soap people. If only I was so strict with my makeup.

4. Best or favorite birthday gift you ever received? - Not that there haven't been many...but since I have virtually no short term memory from lack of sleep I think ONE OF the best gifts I ever got was my iPod. That was a pretty awesome b-day gift.

5. Current makeup obsession? - I'm currently obsessed with cake eyeliners. I'm quite fond of the Chanel ones and hope that they come out with more colors soon. Specifically I want a Plum, Gray and Navy. Then my cake liner collection will be complete.

  1. If your husband is as obsessed with his PS3 as mine is, you should get him a gamefly subscription. This is what I've bought mine for every holiday for like 2 years and he LOVES it and it cuts down on the number of video games he buys. I usually get him a subscription for 3 months - it's $60ish (he can "check out" 2 games at a time - it's like Netflix).

Also, meet up? And why haven't you followed me on blogger yet, *pout*

  2. 1. Blush Of The Day? - BB pot rouge in pink truffle- just because it was sitting on the vanity

    2. What would YOU buy a guy that loves Marvel Comics, Wolverine, 1st person Shooter; Fighting and NFL PS3 Games, Washington Redskins Football and Science? - Either an Amazon giftcard, a subscription to one of the game-renting services, or maybe a collection of graphic novels?

    3. What body wash are you using right now? - Meh. I am still trying to use up a bottle of Philosophy Red Apple, which I do love, but normally I just grab the Irish Spring and hurry up, so I can get to bed.

    4. Best or favorite birthday gift you ever received? - It was actually an anniversary present, but my husband let me adopt two three week old kittens who were very ill- I spent sooooo much time with those babies, hand feeding them and everything. One of them made it, the other had already had a terrible parasitic infection and passed away, but it was still an incredible experience- fighting for animals so helpless. And grown-up Kitten? She thinks she's my child.

    5. Current makeup obsession? - Moisturizing lipsticks and balms! My lips are peeling off in sheets, no matter what kind of treatment I use. I'm at a loss.

  3. What kind of models does Mr Sith not build? DH has a huge collection of AMC car models -- lots of George Barris including not one but TWO Munstermobiles, and a bunch of '39 Mercs, etc. ugh.

Also, re cake liners: Two words: Ben Nye Magicake Aquacolors (okay four words). Huge cakes (even the small size) and tons of colors.

    1. Blush Of The Day? - Didn't put any on today. Blush has looked terrible on me lately -- colors that have always looked good too (I think. My old glasses have discolored lenses due to Transitions tinting. Maybe I always looked like crap).

    2. What would YOU buy a guy that loves Marvel Comics, Wolverine, 1st person Shooter; Fighting and NFL PS3 Games, Washington Redskins Football and Science? -

There are some great books out there on Marvel Comics -- histories, compilations, etc., all colorfully illustrated.

    3. What body wash are you using right now? -

Dr Bronners Mild Unscented mixed with a little Tea Tree oil and jojoba oil.

    4. Best or favorite birthday gift you ever received? -

Not birthday but the best Bat Mitzvah gift I received was a copy of The Victor Book of the Opera in 1979. I still have it and reference it.

    5. Current makeup obsession? -

ELF Eyeshadow primers and EOS balms.

  5. I agree with the Gamefly subscription. Then he can check out games he's interested in but not sure if he wants to buy them or not. You never know, he may find some games he likes a lot and really wants to own...that means ideas for future presents!

  6. I was going to mention the new Call of Duty as well. Also, it depends on what kind of science he's into-that can go in a lot of directions. The Gamefly subscription sounds like an awesome idea.

    1. Blush Of The Day? - Nothing on yet, but probably Chanel Nude.

    2. What would YOU buy a guy that loves Marvel Comics, Wolverine, 1st person Shooter; Fighting and NFL PS3 Games, Washington Redskins Football and Science? -

I'd probably tend toward the Science side, but only cause I love Pop. Science magazine myself and similar things. If he's into watching the UFC there have been a lot of biographies about fighters out lately, and he sounds like the kind of guy that might enjoy a book like Good Omens (Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman) if he hasn't read it/likes to read.

    3. What body wash are you using right now? -

Jacqua Chocolate Buttercream Frosting. Smells like chocolate cupcakes.

    4. Best or favorite birthday gift you ever received? -

Last week my SO got me an iPod-in pink, of course-and then brought his huge hard drive home from work (he's a DJ) and helped me load some stuff on. He's got like... 300 gigs on there, maybe. We put 4 on the iPod and didn't get halfway through. I think for Christmas I'm getting him a record player because he has a lot of stuff on vinyl.

    5. Current makeup obsession? -
I haven't bought anything at ALL recently but I'm reloving Kat Von D's liquid eyeliner. The brush is AMAZING and perfect for winged eyeliner.

  7. 1) MAC Brunette MSF

    2) A book... like Confessions of An Alien Hunter (which I'm currently reading and adoring), about the SETI project or a DVD set like Planet Earth or something. But this I would enjoy immensely, as I am a science loving geek with equally dapper credentials.

    3) BBW Twilight Woods Shower Cream... Its super moisturizing and it smells pretty, oh so pretty!

    4) Probably my 23rd B-day gift to myself which was Makeup (a lot of it) or Booze. I enjoy booze with all of my liver.

    5) Finding a good liquid liner and a good blush and a good mascara and a good foundation. Essentially, I dont have a lock on anything that requires color matching or subdue-edness.

  8. 1. Blush Of The Day? - Bobbi Brown Velvet Plum Pot Rouge. It's what I use when I'm in a rush.

    2. What would YOU buy a guy that loves Marvel Comics, Wolverine, 1st person Shooter; Fighting and NFL PS3 Games, Washington Redskins Football and Science? - GameFly subscription, a life-sized Wolverine statue, and a hardcover version of his favorite comic book!

    3. What body wash are you using right now? - Hm, the Olay Botanical whatever Patchouli and Soy Oil body wash, which I LOOOOOVE.

    4. Best or favorite birthday gift you ever received? - My favorite birthday gift was my 19th birthday present from my then BF Jason. He bought me a tote bag from my favorite bookstore and filled it with blank Moleskine notebooks, and a bunch of philosophy books. God, Jason gave the BEST presents!

    5. Current makeup obsession? - The entire Edward Bess line. I give myself about a month or so before I own the entire line.

  9. 1. Blush Of The Day? - none. the wind is chapping my cheeks, and i used a cleanser that left me with bumps, so trying to heal.

    2. What would YOU buy a guy that loves Marvel Comics, Wolverine, 1st person Shooter; Fighting and NFL PS3 Games, Washington Redskins Football and Science? - I'd get a special edition Wolverine figure. My brother loves comics, and collects figures too.

    3. What body wash are you using right now? - Johnson & Johnson body wash, "fresh Clean" I think it's called, for adults. Gentle, but cleans well.

    4. Best or favorite birthday gift you ever received? - A coat from Agnes B.

    5. Current makeup obsession? - Moisturizing glosses and Illamasqua's matte blushes.

  10. 1. Blush Of The Day? - Bobbi Brown Coral. I bought this in the summer, when I thought Coral was a really good idea. I pulled it out today, it was completely unused. It's 30 degrees here today.

    2. What would YOU buy a guy that loves Marvel Comics, Wolverine, 1st person Shooter; Fighting and NFL PS3 Games, Washington Redskins Football and Science? One year I bought my Aspie/NASA/Programmer/Geeky husband a hand-made polymer clay astronaut sculpture, it was holding a piece of genuine space rock that fell from the sky in Russia. He LOVES that thing!

    4. Best or favorite birthday gift you ever received? A phone for my room on my 17th birthday.

    5. Current makeup obsession? The perfect YLBB lipstick.

  12. 1 - As usual I'm answering your poll on Friday morning, so I'm not wearing blush yet.

2 - I love the gamefly suggestion. That's a great idea. I might do something similar for SO sometime.

3 - Twilight Woods triple moisture shower cream. It's great. But I took a break from it in order to try another one I was sent to review.

4 - My tortiebrat cat, Sienna, was a birthday present when I turned 18. I love her so so so much.

5 - Waiting until my mac pro card works on holiday stuff. It's driving me CRAZY.

  13. I totally LOLed at your description of you and DH exchanging presents! I totally agree with the cash gift - I mean, I'm probably happier receiving cash than whatever crappy thing you can buy me, and while some people might get offended by receiving cash, I'm definitely not one of them. But people never get that, I think...you're right in saying they want the gift to 'mean' something...Oh well, its the thought that counts!:)
