Thursday Poll



I DON'T hate snow. It seems like everyone complains when it snows. Not me. I love it. Half of the time it snows so much that I get to stay home instead of go into work, and hey let's face it. It just adds to the days where I can wear sweaters and jeans and big cozy socks. Well. I had an epiphany yesterday. I realized that the reason I love snow so much is because I never really had to shovel it. I had to shovel the driveway yesterday. It sucked. The snow was wet and heavy...not powdery like last week...and we have a big driveway. Then half way through shoveling I realized I had not cleaned off my car yet and that meant that all my shoveling would have to be done over because the snow coming off my car would end up in the driveway...oh yeah...and my gloves were in the snow covered car. So not only did I have to shovel twice I didn't wear my gloves so my hands were cold and I got a blister. I freakin HATE snow. Now the next time Mr. Sith is shoveling the driveway for the one millionth time this winter I'll remember what a total pain in the butt it is to shovel snow and I will do something nice for him...like not make him watch Project Runway with me...or not have a conversation involving taupe eye shadow or something thoughtful like that.

2. What is your favorite blush for that "Just in from frolicking in the snow" flush? - Right now I would have to say it is Pout in Cherie Tarte...but I should be receiving Chanel JC in Turbulent soon and that might be my new fave!

3. Do you partake in any winter sports? (e.g. Skiing, Ice Skating, Snow Shoeing, Curling, etc.) No. I tried skiing once...once. It was a disaster. I sucked at it and almost hit a tree. plus I hate snow pants. I had a red pair of down filled snow pants and a red ski jacket and I felt like the Michelin Tire Man covered in blood. (Now there's an image for ya!) I used to ice skate when I was younger. That was fun. I do enjoy watching Hockey. Does that count? LET'S GO CAPS!

4. What is your favorite dry, cold weather body lotion, hand cream, face cream? - Humm. I would have to say Nivea Lotion is super for me and Nivea cream in the blue tin (made in Germany) is the most wonderful hand cream that I have ever used. Lastly, Fresh Soy Face Cream is my favorite cold weather face treatment. It smells like lemon grass and moisturizes without breaking me out or feeling greasy.

5. When was the last time you built a snowman? - Ah ha! I have a little kid so my last snowman was recent! but before Darthypie came along, the last snowman I built was in the Blizzard of 1996 which hit the East Coast with over 4 feet of snow. My friends all hung out at one house the night before, watched movies, mad a ton of food, drank and made a snow man on the front lawn. Ahh good times...I didn't see my car for 2 weeks...seriously. It was covered. Thankfully I lived in walking distance to work and the Metro.

    -I participate in winter eating, winter sleeping, and winter shopping.

    -Oy, I hate lotion, I always forget to use it, but when I do I usually use something from BBW, Luna Bleu, Bissy's Boutique, or Cleanse Your Soul

    5. When was the last time you built a snowman?
    -When I was like 5 back in Nevada.

  2. Oh god! SNOW! I'm moving to the snow belt too. I'm not sure I can deal living in a place where 4" is considered a "light dusting." Only good thing is that they are so use to it, it is BAU within 24 hrs. Our driveway is huge but I guess that's what hiring the guy with the plow on his truck to plow it is for. sigh.

    99-cent red goodness in the form of Nicka K "True Red" a medium red with subtle gold shimmer. Pretty neutral for a gold-shot red.

    Long discontinued L'Oreal Quick Stick in Ripe Plum. Also two now-discontinued L'Oreal HIP blushes -- Thrilled and another one I can't remember the name of. Stupid L'Oreal.

    3. Do you partake in any winter sports? (e.g. Skiing, Ice Skating, Snow Shoeing, Curling, etc.)

    Nope. My youngest brother curls though.

    Cerave or 100% jojoba oil

    5. When was the last time you built a snowman?

    Hmmmmmm. Sometime in the late 1960s or early 1970. I did make a snow angel last year though, visiting my sister-in-law in the snow-belt.

    2. What is your favorite blush for that "Just in from frolicking in the snow" flush? Shu Red 19D--I think it's either DC'd or LE, sadly. I tried Cargo Panama, but it didn't come close

    3. Do you partake in any winter sports? (e.g. Skiing, Ice Skating, Snow Shoeing, Curling, etc.) Not voluntarily. Does drinking cocoa count?

    4. What is your favorite dry, cold weather body lotion, hand cream, face cream? Any L'Occitane --they're all gorgeous. They don't all absorb well, but I love the scents

    5. When was the last time you built a snowman? When I was pretty small, my brothers and I did a pretty good one. Very fun!

    None yet, just woke up. Probably a Revlon matte one, because I've been obsessed lately.

    MAC Dainty. I'm super pale, so it's hard to find a good pigmented blush that doesn't give me the just-frolicked-in-the-snow look.

    3. Do you partake in any winter sports? (e.g. Skiing, Ice Skating, Snow Shoeing, Curling, etc.)
    A few years back I went tubing and snowmobiling. It was fun, but nowadays getting down my driveway without falling on my butt is my sport. :)

    4. What is your favorite dry, cold weather body lotion, hand cream, face cream?
    I always forget to use lotion, as dry as my skin gets in the winter. For hands I use Burts Bee's Almond hand salve.

    5. When was the last time you built a snowman?
    Ages ago, probably before I was even in middle school.

    Favorite Blush: Napoleon Perdis Mosaic Powder, Blushing

    Winter Sports: Living in Alaska, where work NEVER closes for snow, I consider driving to work a sport in itself. Outside of that, chasing our 3-year-old pretty much takes most of my energy.

    I still have yet to find the "magic" lotion that can keep me moisturized for at least 18 hours, but CO Bigelow Rose Salve is definitely my favorite hand saver!

    Snowman: Our little one became infatuated with Frosty the Snowman this year, so we've made more snowmen than I care to count...all named Frosty, of course.

    As for shoveling the driveway, maybe Mr. Sith would like a snow blower - it's like a lawnmower made for removing snow from decks and driveways...definitely a good thing to keep DH's in a good mood when it's snowing (plus beer).

  6. 1. Aquaphor...I'm working from home waiting for my baby to exit my body so lipstick is kind of off the menu lately.

    2. Nars Dolce Vita is my perfect winter flush. I fracking love this blush.

    3. I love skiing - I also kinda love winter. I love getting bundled up and going out in the snow and hearing it crunch underfoot.

    4. I love Origins Gloomaway Body Souffle - I tend to have oily skin so I don't need much moisture but this gives me the perfect silkiness and it also repels mosquitos so I tend to use this more in the summer.

    5. It must have been when we moved to our first actual house when I was around 9 or 10 - we had a front yard for the first time and so there was no danger of a dog coming by and peeing on it.

  7. you know, I dont know if i would ever enjoy living in the snow. I like the snow and all but that whole shoveling business does sound kind of sucky.

    3. I actually really like winter sports. I regularly snowboard and i have tried skiing, ice skating, and recently tried snowshoeing which i liked quite alot.

    5. I think it was about 3 years ago with my boyfriends family. I live in ca so it doesnt snow much. I'm not so great at making snow men or snowballs

  9. 1. Lip Of The Day? - Hard Candy's Plumping Serum in Girly Girl...holy crap! Not Carmex for once.

    2. What is your favorite blush for that "Just in from frolicking in the snow" flush? - Nyx's Pinky. I have pretty red cheeks as it is...but that mellows them out and makes them look nice and flushed.

    3. Do you partake in any winter sports? (e.g. Skiing, Ice Skating, Snow Shoeing, Curling, etc.) - Hell no. I tried ice skating once and almost broke my ass bone. I'm a champion Hot Chocolate Drinker though...

    4. What is your favorite dry, cold weather body lotion, hand cream, face cream? - Lubriderm Advanced Therapy for Extra Dry Skin. Best stuff ever. I use it as a face lotion all the time. It's never greasy and doesn't clog my pores. For hand cream, I'm all about the Kiss My Face. The Chinese Botanicals lotion smells SO GOOD! I'm too lazy for body lotion...I just wash with Dove.

    5. When was the last time you built a snowman? - The last time I attempted to build a snowman...I really only got the bottom half done. When my little sister and I were much younger, we rolled a GIANT ball out of all the snow in our back yard. My sister then proceeded to piss me off...so I convinced her that it would be a good idea for me to bury her in the giant snowball. Which I did, and then I went inside and took off all my snow clothes. That was probably about 15 years ago. She still hasn't forgiven me.
