Chanel Rouge Coco Lipstick Part 2

When I purchased my 2 Chanel Rouge Coco lipsticks the Sales Associate at my local Chanel counter presented me with a sample card containing 4 of the Chanel Rouge Coco lipstick shades.
She said they only received 12 cards, so I felt kinda special to get one. I guess I spend enough money there that figure they can throw me a free sample now and then. *rolls eyes*
I thought I would swatch these colors for you since the on-line swatches suck to the suckest power times infinity. Let's take a closer look, shall we?

Égerié An orange ceamsicle shade...as best as I can describe it. Not a good color for me, but I can see how it might work for some skin tones. This is a creme formula.
Here is the on line swatch.

Annnd here is the swatch on my lips.

Yeah. That's a big fail.

Légende: A warm bright pink with golden shimmer. This is frost formula. I found this to brighten my face. I might almost purchase this one.

A whole big bucket of fail.

Mademoiselle: The signature color that Vanessa Paradis is wearing in most of the ads. A warm pink that tends to pull orange on me, but pulled more pink on the Chanel SA. This is one shade you might want to test in person if you find that most nudes pull orange on you. This is a creme formula.

Failtastic!

Cambon: A bright cool toned red. BRIGHT. but wearable...maybe not for the office but a nice cocktail party could be a great venue for this color. This is a creme formula...with some frost...does that make sense?

This is the biggest fail fail that ever failed.

Hope you enjoyed the extra swatches. As I recommended in my last post, please
look at many DIFFERENT blogs for swatches. Don't rely on just one blog to pick your colors as different skin colors, heaviness of the swatch application and lighting all play a factor in changing the color. Look for as many examples of the color as you can before your purchase...because at $30 a tube you don't want to buy a color that doesn't look good on you.

Will you be purchasing one or more of the new Chanel Rouge Coco lipsticks?

  3. You ain't kidding, those online swatches are ... well, words fail me, actually. You'd think that Chanel (or any company with $$$ products) would spend just a little of their revenue towards improving their online swatches ... which could possibly generate more revenue for them.

But that'd make too much sense :-p

That said, I went to my Macy's yesterday to see these in person, and thank God I did, because the shades I thought I'd love turned out to be all wrong for me. I ended up walking away with Secret, Cashmere, & La Pausa (ok, THAT name I need to confirm lol ... I suck with names).

I really do like the formula & the color payoff, and they feel so incredibly lightweight, it confuses me LOL.

I didn't make to my only Chanel counter on Saturday so I'm dying to see these. The swatches are really helpful!

  5. Thanks for this - I am contemplating about exchanging my Mademoiselle - it's orangey on me...

  6. I have five: Perle, Organdi Rose, Ruban Rose, Gardenia, and Mademoiselle which seems to be the chameleon of the group. It's a pretty pink with coral undertone on me, but a lovely true pink on my friend. The five I've tried are all moisturizing without being slippery, and they wear very well. I have found that although many of the colors might look similar in the tube, they look quite different on the lips so it's one of those products that should really be tried before buying.

You gave excellent advice about checking as many swatches as possible on various blogs. As we all know, Chanel's website is beyond terrible.

  9. Good god, those online swatches suck! You'd think that a company like Chanel would have better images of their products? Oh well...Cambon, I LOVE you!

  10. I'm interested in Mademoiselle, but it looks dupable... I think I have a Lancome lip eerily similar.
