Oh!
Excuse me.
You caught me talking to my taupe eye shadows again.
Silly me. I'll take my medication now.
Well I guess since you overheard that conversation I should also share with you what came in the mail.
See?

Yes.
MAC Cosmetics latest taupe eye shadow offering:
Prepped For Glamour
From the Prep For Colour collection, released this week. Note the use of U in Glamor and Color - To Americans this makes it "fancy" To the rest of the world it makes this "spelled correctly". Only 3 shadows were released in this collection and I was happy to see a lovely chocolatey taupe in that collection
This Frost formula shadow is described a Ashy/Dirty Brown. I really don't see the Ashy and isn't brown kinda "dirty" looking in the first place? Oh MAC. Why not call a spade a spade and just say it's TAUPE! Seriously. I don't think they want you to realize how close to taupe this color is.
Wanna know how close?
OK. I have a swatch of Prepped For Glamour and a swatch of Satin Taupe. Can you tell them apart? Yeah. It's not that easy. Now can you tell?

If you can't tell the difference now I suggest you learn to read.
Prepped For Glamour is so remarkably close to MAC Satin Taupe that the biggest difference I see is that Satin Taupe may have some more red base to it than Prepped For Glamour. Which means, those that have Satin Taupe turn pure purple on them, may like Prepped For Glamour better!
As with all MAC shadows, the Frost formula is smooth with little to no powder fallout. The pigmentation is strong and a little goes a long way. The shadow does not crease when wearing an eye primer and lasts a good 8 to 10 hours without fading.
Do you NEED this? Well if you are a taupe HOOR like me, YES. But for more sane inDUHividuals, heck no. If you already have Satin Taupe you CERTAINLY DO NOT need this. If you hated Satin Taupe, you maybe, could possibly, might like this but I would strongly suggest testing this eye shadow before you buy it.
im into taupe shadows now. so i think i might check this out :) lovely post!
ReplyDelete"To Americans this makes it "fancy" To the rest of the world it makes this "spelled correctly". - I LOLed :)
ReplyDeleteSilhouetteScreams: LOL I lived in the UK for a year and started spelling words "the English" way, Behaviour, Colour, etc...when I got back to the US I had a professor that used to mark me down in points on papers because I used those spellings. He said it was incorrect b/c I lived "IN AMERICA" and it was also "pretentious". I had to relearn how to write "the American" way. Now I just write the shitty way using too many ellipses...and very poor grammar. :-)
ReplyDeleteI LOL'd too. i'm a Canadian American and my mother (the Canadian) homeschooled me. guess how i spell? that's right. plus, i'm a raving Anglophile and so on occasion i will spell things the uber-Brit way (e.g. 'tyre') for the craic of it.
ReplyDeletebtw i am THISJEALOUS that you got to live in UK.
All my architecture professors spelled the 'English' way so I did too for quite awhile. Outside of school, people would ask if I ever lived in the UK... nope - just momentarily considered the most pretentious profession there is (And they also justified the text on EVERYTHING - apparently it makes it more artsy?).
ReplyDeletethanks for doing a feature on this eyeshadow! in all the features for this new collection they really do try to hide the fact that this is taupe!! haha - is it as dark as satin taupe? I loved satin taupe except that it was way too dark for everyday on me. I loved it but it made me look bruised and/or beaten up in the eyes.
ReplyDeleteThe swatch you provided makes it look a touch lighter than satin taupe!
sweet! i was a taupe hoor in hiding and you have made me be open with my love for taupes! :D thanks for this post, i am going to go to mac after work to pick it up!
ReplyDeleteWow that's pretty damn close. I already own Satin Taupe so I will be passing. If only I were a Taupe HOOR as well I'm pretty sure I would have preordered this by now too!
ReplyDeleteHAHAHA.
ReplyDeleteAh, I love your writing, Elvira. =)
I hated Satin Taupe with a passion so I am guessing I will dislike this one as well. I like my taupes to be greenish, like UD Underground.
I guess I need this. LOL
ReplyDeleteJust gave you a little award on my blog. Stop by when you have a sec. :)
ReplyDeleteHi, I gave you an award on my blog!

I've been wanting Satin Taupe for months, but just happened to get Prepped for Glamour yesterday at a CCO! Glad I found this blog post, because now I can cross Satin Taupe off my list. ;)
