Thursday Poll

The other day The Daily Telegraph (An Australian Newspaper) reported that the Voyager 2 Spacecraft that launched almost 33 years ago is sending back data messages that NASA scientists can't decode. The article HERE talks about the Voyager 2 was launched many years go with "a 12-inch disk containing music and greetings in 55 languages in case intelligent extraterrestrial life ever found it." It seems it might have been found because the Voyager 2 is now sending back signals that the scientists cannot decode. OK. First of all, I have to say that the headline is "Have aliens hijacked Voyager 2 spacecraft" which sounds like something from The Enquirer or Weekly World News...but worse yet the article has an exclamation mark in the 2nd paragraph "Signals in an unknown data format!" What is it about the use of the word "Aliens" and The use of an Exclamation point in a news story that makes me not believe it? Is it that people have become more and more anti-exclamation point since the advent of e-mail? People do use rows of !!!!! a lot these days. Type in "Overuse of exclamation point" in google and you get 25,200 results! I used the ! there to show my surprise at how MANY entries there are on the subject. Personally I don't care. I like using exclamation points. I like them a lot! I am excited about things...makeup especially. How can we show emotion in the cold and sterile environment of the Internet without typing in ALL CAPS misspelling words like "what" (WUT) and "hi" (HAI) and "Oh my God" (OMG) to show a bit of emotion/personality/etc.? People can't see our faces when we are excited/shocked/etc about what we just read. I believe the over use of exclamation points will only become more common as the generations after us use keyboards more than vocal cords to communicate. Heck. I'm the LAST person that would ever judge poor punctuation or grammar. Have you seen my over use of ellipses? OMG! This one guy would HATE reading my blog. Read his piece about overuse of ellipses HERE. HA! He's pretty funny actually. He gets quite worked up over those three little dots...I like to use them in place of a comma or period. See I'm doing it right now...in fact I did it again! Oh my goodness. This post is turning into a punctuation Nazi's nightmare! Let's just end it here and get...
On To The Poll

1. Blush Of The Day? - BECCA lip and cheek creme in Tuberose. I plane to do a review shortly. It's a lovely pinky peach. It is almost a pinker version of Chanel In Love JC blush and a peachier version of Nars Cactus Flower blush, sans shimmer.

2. Do you believe in Extra Terrestrial Life? Do you think there are other life forms out there in the galaxy and beyond? - I have to think there is intelligent life out there. If they are smart they would leave us alone because humans are still to savage and backwards to accept alien life sharing the planet with us.

3. Latest beauty acquisition? - BECCA Lip and cheek cream in Tuberose and a Revlon mascara (another upcoming review)

4. Do you consider yourself a Grammar Warrior or a Grammar Pacifist? - I am surely a Grammar Pacifist. I don't care about dangling participles, poor punctuation, or run-on sentences...and that is evident in my writing style. I wish I was more diligent about using proper grammar and punctuation, but that would require effort. Something I don't like to extend if I can help it.

5. If aliens visited the planet and were humanoid, like us, what is one beauty product you would share with them? (assuming they had no cosmetics.) - I would share lipstick with them. Everyone can benefit from a little lipstick. There is nothing more beautiful than a brand new tube of lipstick. So much potential. Such perfect lines. such beautiful smooth, virgin surfaces. A tube of lipstick is a woman's greatest weapon. It can transform her looks, he mood and her outlook on life! (sometimes) As much of a taupe eyeshadow hoor that I am, I think lipstick is a universal beauty enhancer.

  1. I overuse exclamation points and em-dashes (oh how I love alt + 0151!!!!!)

    Anyway . . .

    1. Blush Of The Day?
HIP Creme blush in Embraceble (I think that's the one). A kind of peachy-pinky nude. DH put my container of brushes somehwere and that was the only fingerable blush in the bathroom. Convenience is everything.

    2. Do you believe in Extra Terrestrial Life?

Yes only because I can't believe we're the only thing out there in this vast universe -- one of many solar systems.

    3. Latest beauty acquisition?

Just this morning on the way to work -- Jordana e/s pot in Supernatural (lolOMG!!!!!) Looks like Stila Wheat or Lame in the pot. I haven't tested it though.

    4. Do you consider yourself a Grammar Warrior or a Grammar Pacifist? Grammar Pacifist. Lots of grammar mistakes bug me but I make enough less obvious (to me) ones. Also I think a lot of grammar mistakes have become the norm. I don't even try to correct people anymore.

    5. If aliens visited the planet and were humanoid, like us, what is one beauty product you would share with them? (assuming they had no cosmetics.) Sun screen I guess, because I am practical even though I don't always practice safe sunscreen myself.

  2. Blush of the Day? Sue Devitt Los Angeles(spelling ?).

Extra-Terrestrial life? Yes, I do believe it's out there. I also believe they are laughing their a$$e$ off at us. Hopefully, Spock and the Vulcans get here soon.

Latest Beauty Acquisition? WnW E/S in Brule' which is a nice matte cream and a backup of WnW Nutty, a glorius TAUPE!

Grammar Warrior or Pacifist? Hmmmm, when typing for "fun" (such as responding to blogs) a Pacifist, when doing work, a Warrior.

If aliens visited what beauty item would I share, assuming they have no concept of MU? Hmmmm, would have to check them out first, to see what item they might benefit from the most.

  3. 1 blush - never learned how to apply it - somewhat wary of it as I have naturally rosy cheeks
2 ETs? Don't much care. If suchlike exists it may well be too far way to be of any consequence.
3 two polishes in the post today - 1 holo and a metallic blue but I may order some BB Couture today
4 the grammar question? Depends on the context. In a report I try to be scrupulously accurate. But language should be dynamic and responsive and representative of the people who use it.
5 Sunscreen sounds like an excellent idea.

  4. 1. Blush Of The Day? - I put on Mac MSF Glissade before i left the house... but now that i am outside it seems to have just imparted a sheen on my cheeks, no color, bah. And i luckily have Mac sheertone blush in Aftershock in my purse andi put that on, its so lovely.

    2. Do you believe in Extra Terrestrial Life? Do you think there are other life forms out there in the galaxy and beyond? -Yes, I do think so, and when I try to wrap my head around the sheer volume that the universe is it kind of makes my brain hurt. Its good though. I like thinking outside the "earth-only" box :)

    3. Latest beauty acquisition? - I just placed a cp with a lovely girl online from macpro - so excited since there is no mac standalone store for 500 miles, much less a pro store - yay! I got a Style blush and bright sunshine pro pan and a few brushes - so excited! :) !!!!!

    4. Do you consider yourself a Grammar Warrior or a Grammar Pacifist? - Well it depends on the context. I am a copy editor for a print newspaper and so I get super "grammar nazi" up here. The Correct Punctuation Punisher really, too. But online and on facebook, and through text message, I really don't care... but if you get me reading articles or essays for content... I will be the best ever :) It doesn't really show through my own writing though anymore. The older I get the lazier I become. I <3 grammar. wootan.

    5. If aliens visited the planet and were humanoid, --- I just deleted the end of that sentance but its okay cause I know what you were asking. I would share the beauty of a good lotion with them. Assuming they had skin. Right? You said humanoid. I would share with them a good lotion and a good bronzer - you never know if they have a superhuge star or even a small one close to their planet to impart the lovely glow of warmth upon their faces - they might need a sparkly touch of shimmer. A heavenly glow, if you will. :) LOL

  5. 1. Blush Of The Day?
MAC Joie De Vivre Creamblend blush from the Lillyland collection- easy, brightening, and stays most of the day
    2. Do you believe in Extra Terrestrial Life?
Definitely. How could we possible be the only sentient life forms in this enormous array of planets/galaxies/etc?
    3. Latest beauty acquisition?
OPI Done Out in Deco on the ULTA Clearance table...several more Colorburst lipsticks (I'm in love, seriously. Soft Rose and Blush = HG)
    4. Do you consider yourself a Grammar Warrior or a Grammar Pacifist? I just assume everyone is an idiot, and I ignore them.
    5. If aliens visited the planet and were humanoid, like us, what is one beauty product you would share with them? (assuming they had no cosmetics.) I think it would depend on what they looked like...if they had no lips, I wouldn't offer them lipgloss!

  6. 1. Blush Of The Day?
I mixed MAC Full Fuchsia with Aromaleigh Candy.

    2. Do you believe in Extra Terrestrial Life? Do you think there are other life forms out there in the galaxy and beyond?
I hope that there's life out there, but I've not seen evidence of it yet.

    3. Latest beauty acquisition?
    Some purchases from Evil Shades.

    4. Do you consider yourself a Grammar Warrior or a Grammar Pacifist?
    Grammar pacifist.

    5. If aliens visited the planet and were humanoid, like us, what is one beauty product you would share with them? (assuming they had no cosmetics.)
I'd share eye shadow with them, because you can use it to paint beautiful designs on skin.

  7. 1. Blush Of The Day? - I have to demo a teacher soon, so I have on no makeup at all.

    2. Do you believe in Extra Terrestrial Life? Do you think there are other life forms out there in the galaxy and beyond? - It comforts me to think there's more intelligent life beyond Earth. There fucking better be, and I hope they come and rescue the few sane, intelligent beings on Earth.

    3. Latest beauty acquisition? - Hm...the UD Summer of Love palette from Cindy, I think! I love it. Maui Wowie is one of the prettiest eyeshadow colors ever (and Fyrinnae Pixie Epoxy makes it wearable)!

    4. Do you consider yourself a Grammar Warrior or a Grammar Pacifist? - I'm a Grammar Nazi. Bad grammar irks me to no end.

    5. If aliens visited the planet and were humanoid, like us, what is one beauty product you would share with them? (assuming they had no cosmetics.) - Mascara!

  8. 1. Blush of the Day?

It was Bobbi Brown Nectar, I picked this up at my CCO and am loving it with my *gasp* SUMMER TAN!

    2. Do you believe in Extra Terrestrial Life? Do you think there are other life forms out there in the galaxy and beyond?

I like to think that there are. Somewhere, some other living thing/species/piece of fluff exists, I think. It may not be "intelligent" as we think of it, but I like to believe it's out there :)

    3. Latest beauty acquisition?

Hmm, it's been awhile, I have to think about this one. Probably the BB Nectar blush, actually. I am really seriously considering caving big time for Guerlain's summer collection. I love Guerlain, and I get paid tomorrow and then again before the end of the month. Sound enough reasoning, right?

    4. Do you consider yourself a Grammar Warrior or a Grammar Pacifist?

Hmm... I love literature, but I'm very peaceful by nature. So, I guess Pacifist w/ a few certain "trigger violations", lol? Meaning, I have a few things that drive me crazy and deep down I'm a bit picky about grammar because I do love to read/write so much, but I try to keep my crazy on the dl most of the time.

    5. If aliens visited the planet etc etc etc?

I would share a fragrance. Maybe Tom Ford Black Orchid, or Chanel No. 5. I think fragrances are universal. Here's hoping they have noses!

  9. 1. Blush Of The Day? - shu uemura p peach 45 and R&R Immoral

    2. Do you believe in Extra Terrestrial Life? Do you think there are other life forms out there in the galaxy and beyond? - Probably, but most likely NOT in the way we imagine.

    3. Latest beauty acquisition? - Hard Candy Sheer Envy primer, Living Doll Blush, SK skunk brush and metal lash comb.

    4. Do you consider yourself a Grammar Warrior or a Grammar Pacifist? - More of a warrior. And a word use warrior too. I can't read blogs with many mispellings in them and they and misuse of words stand out like beacons to me.

    5. If aliens visited the planet and were humanoid, like us, what is one beauty product you would share with them? (assuming they had no cosmetics.) - Blush. :D

  10. hilarious post.

    1. Blush Of The Day? none, as I'm sick and wearing a mask.

    2. Do you believe in Extra Terrestrial Life? Do you think there are other life forms out there in the galaxy and beyond? It seems likely that there is something living out there.

    3. Latest beauty acquisition? A bunch of lippies, some blush, and some skin care from a blog sale. Excited about using it!

    4. Do you consider yourself a Grammar Warrior or a Grammar Pacifist? - More of a warrior, but I try not to be a vigilante about it. It used to bother me a lot more before, but now I've become pretty calm about it. I don't like reading poorly spelled material though.

    5. If aliens visited the planet and were humanoid, like us, what is one beauty product you would share with them? I'd be tempted to share eyeliner or mascara, but I have to say that lipstick makes an immediate difference in adding polish to any face. 2nd place would be blush, probably, but I am seldom without eyeliner on.
