Cellnique - Advanced Bio Renewal Masque

image from cellnique.com

I recently was given the opportunity to try out a few items from the
Cellnique skin care line. A rep from the company sent me some samples to try and I wanted to tell you about my favorite product so far. Cellnique Advanced Bio Renewal Masque. Located in Malaysia and Singapore, Cellnique offers shipping all over the world. Founded in 1997 the company focuses on skin care for problem skin without fancy fillers and over hyped promises. A simple approach to skin care seems to be the case for Cellnique. I like this, as I also agree, "less is more" when dealing with problem skin. Now As much as I love the mask that they sent I did not like the Skin Action Sebum Gel. I'll write a review of that later.

OK. First off I am a total sucker for masques. I like sheet masques, peel off masques, clay masques, cream masques, gel masques. You name it I have probably tried it...or lusted after it. Masques are my 15 minute escape. I can put one on and have an excuse to lay down for at least 10 to 15 minutes without interruption. I usually do them right before bed because it's the only time I can find to do them, and the result is usually waking up with glowing skin. I have been guilty of using masques too much. So much so, that my skin started to revolt and break out and become ultra sensitive. I had to go on a masque deprivation diet and it hurt to not do anything to my skin for so long. Well the lovely people at Cellnique sent me a masque just as I was ending my "masque diet" and I dove into the Advanced Bio Renewal Masque like a fat bridesmaid at a wedding buffet. (I can use this imagery because I have been that fat bridesmaid!)

The Advanced Bio Renewal Masque is really a combination Masque/Scrub It is loaded with fruit enzymes and acids and is supposed to exfoliate dead cells and deep clean pores. The masque has a very strong pineapple scent...kind of a fermented pineapple, but honestly I love pineapple so the scent didn't bother me one bit. While this masque does contain kaolin clay it does not dry up my skin like many others that contain the same clay.

The masque only needs to to sit on your face for 10 to 20 minutes. Those with very sensitive skin may feel a slight tingling because of the glycolic acid in the masque. Once the masque has dried for the appropriate amount of time you moisten the masque with water and gently massage it off in a circular motion for about 10 to 15 seconds. This masque does contain some granules that act as a scrub for your skin. I did not find them overly harsh on my skin at all.

After rinsing off the masque my skin felt so smooth. Like I couldn't stop touching it. My skin glowed. It wasn't red or raw it just looked fresh. Oh and my skin felt smooth for at least 2 days after using the masque. It wasn't a temporary feeling. My skin actually felt improved for a few days after use...which is excellent for a masque product. I used this masque once a week for a month and I can't say for sure it was the masque alone, but I swear that my skin on my forehead seemed less congested after a month of use. Even better?

After 4 uses I still have a bunch of product still left in the jar. I'm not sure how many more uses I have left in the jar but I do know that I have more than two more months worth of product. The only drawback is that there is no spatula for the jar so I had to use my clean fingers, but I just worry about contaminating the product after a few uses.

Do you NEED this? If you have rough, problem or congested skin I would recommend it...however please note that the Cellnique Advanced Bio Renewal Masque costs $51 USD That is pretty expensive as masques go, but personally I feel it's worth it for the smooth skin result. If you have sensitive skin I do not recommend this masque as the acids may irritate your skin. I will be purchasing another masque when I finish the one I currently have. You can only purchase on line though www.cellnique.com. It looks like there is free international shipping for orders over $60 and a 5% discount for members of the website. Next week I'll tell you all about the 2 other products that were sent to me for review.

  1. I have to say I'm a sucker for masques too. Especially peel off. This one looks really intresting but it's a little pricey for me. Great review though!

  2. Julia Mathias: I hear ya about the masque addiction! Yeah this masque is pricey. Maybe one day you'll get it as a special treat or something. :-)

  3. I love masks too although I love them so much I tend to leave them on too long thinking "if 10 minutes is good, then 20 should make me look like Cameron Diaz"--uh, NOT. You need to try DermaDoctor Physical Chemistry, it's a scrub and chemical peel and it's great!

  4. Cindy: Ooh another Masque to try! TY! But yeah. I know the feeling that if I leave it on longer I'll be even better. Sadly, as we both know, that is not the case.
