I'm back with my second installment of the Cellnique products I was given to try out. I have a good review and a bad review.
Let's start with the good. Shall we?
Cellnique Intensive Hydrating Oasis Gel is an Aloe Vera gel-based moisturizer. It has skin calming properties from Aloe Vera, Witch Hazel and Horse Chestnut ingredients and astringent properties from the Witch Hazel and Hose Chestnut. The Aloe Vera gel is extremely moisturizing but not overly so that it would cause any problem with clogged pores in sensitive or acne prone skin types.
The gel comes in a sleek and sanitary pump tube. It take about one to two pumps to hydrate your face and neck. The clear, unscented gel spreads evenly and sinks into your skin quickly. As light as the gel is, it's amazing how moisturized my skin feels after using it. I don't have that greasy feel from a lot of other moisturizers and I don't get a sticky feel on my face like I might get from some other gels.
I used Cellnique Intensive Hydrating Oasis Gel for one month both morning and night. I did not have any breakouts associated with this product. My makeup went on smoothly over this product and I did not feel the need for extra hydration for my skin...nor did I feel like my skin was overly greasy or oily while I used it. I am currently testing another skin care product but I am still using the Cellnique Intensive Hydrating Oasis Gel once a day in the morning. Since the weather has been so hot and humid this is an excellent gel moisturizer for those hotter days. I cannot tell you how much I have left in the tube, but I do plan to purchase a new one when I run out.
Do you NEED this? YES! I think this gel is suitable for all skin types and would be especially beneficial to those in a very hot or hot and humid climate. $41 will get you 50 ml or 1.7 ounces That should last you a good three to five months depending on how much you use each pump...however it may last longer.. I can't say for sure because I am still on my first tube and I can't tell how much is left after almost 2 months of solid use.
OK. On to the bad....
I have no problem when I tell you about a product I don't like. So I'll be quite honest when I say that Cellnique Skin Action Sebum Gel did absolutely NOTHING for me. Its claim to
"reduce both blackheads and whiteheads on affected skin area without painful extraction. This daily maintenance gel also reduces sebum secretion, leaving the skin clear and producing smooth visible results within 10 days of application."did not work for me.
I saw no reduction of blackheads, no reduction of whiteheads (although I don't have that problem any way) and no reduction at all of sebum on my nose or T-zone. In fact. I would say that by the end of the day, my T-zone was just as oily if not more oily than I remember. Cellnique wanted me to provide before and after pictures of the blackheads on my nose. Sorry but I'm not going to do that. A) I wear makeup to cover those blackheads and 2) I love you all too much to subject you to such horrific pictures and iii) I'm vain and just don't want to publish such photos on the interwebz.
Trust Me! This product did not work in any way at all on my skin. Cellnique Skin Action Sebum Gel is a clear liquidy gel in a pump dispenser. I felt the pump provided plenty of product for my nose, forehead and chin. It smelled terrible. It was HEAVY on the menthol scent. (NOT peppermint as the website claims) You know, like Vicks Vapo Rub or Icy Hot gel patches? YUK. The scent faded after a while but it's not a pleasant scent to me. Once applied the product sunk quickly into my skin and left no sticky residue or anything like that. My skin did feel tighter once applying, and not in a bad way, and my T-zone did seem slightly mattified for a period of time after applying it. But my blackheads remained and my T-Zone was just as oily as ever. Total FAIL.
Do you need this? NO. This product did not deliver for me. At $51 for 30 ml / 1.01 oz I don't think it is worth it at all. I stopped using the product after 30 days of continuous use and do not plan of purchasing a new bottle or using up the bottle I have.
So there you have it. Two products from Cellnique. A Dud in the Cellnique Skin Action Sebum Gel and a GEM in the Cellnique Intensive Hydrating Oasis Gel. I hope you all found this review helpful.

I just received two products from Cellnique to review as well. I'm gonna start testing them AFTER my grad trip though. But yea, lol. I was really kind of turned off by the way Cellnique PR handles their blogger relations...
ReplyDeleteYeah. I haven't had any problems with them per se..just that I never got a response back when I told them I posted about their products. No biggie.
ReplyDeleteMe and my friend tried the sebum gel. Works very well for clogged pores. For my friend who has a whole face of clogged pores especially. So, she is particularly grateful to find her miracle.
ReplyDeleteWe don't have blackheads so can't tell for sure. Doesn't work for acne as well.
PS: I am not a beauty blogger.
Anon: I'm glad the Sebum gel worked for you and your friend. I agree about it having no effect on acne. Too bad... But glad you are happy with it!
ReplyDeleteBit late to comment.. but..
ReplyDeleteThe sebum gel worked for me!
i've got pretty clear skin, just visible pores to the side of my nose, and couple of blackheads i've always squeezed [but returned! wtf]
So.. visible pores, not so visible now. Blackheads? hehehehe after 30 mins of applying this gel, a light *poke poke* at the blackhead.. and it POPS out. wooohoo! fascinatingly gross, blackheads.
Um, ok, didn't mean to be so detailed here, but I had fun with it! And yeah, it makes you MORE oily.. I don't see the sebum control after 3 weeks! much less 10 days.. grumble
