Review by Joeybunny - Kenzo Perfumed Drop of Milk for the Body

Forgive me if this review is ripe with superlatives and rambling thoughts. I’m writing this after having consumed way too much Italian food (and after having drank way too red wine). So, in my deliciously hedonistic mood, I bring you my latest favorite from Kenzo - Kenzo Amour Florale Perfumed Drop of Milk for the Body.

Yes, it’s a long name for a product, but it sounds great, no? My boss (ladyboss, not dudeboss) said it sounded as if the Japanese name of the product was poorly translated into English, but I think “Perfumed Drop of Milk” is both romantic and an accurate description of the product.

Kenzo Amour is one of the headier, more musky Kenzo scents - a gorgeous combination of rice steam, musk, and frangipani. Kenzo Amour Florale is a (clearly) more floral version - I love it because, on me, the musk is balanced by a gorgeous gardenia and cassis note. Kenzo Amour Florale isn’t a traditional floral, and despite my normal aversion to floral scents, this is one that I return to time and time again.

I was especially interested in Perfumed Drop of Milk because Kenzo has the most deliciously fragranced and effective skincare line, KenzoKi. I thought that Perfumed Drop of Milk was a fragranced body lotion, and because it’s summer (thus, it’s bare legs for Joey season), I was in the market for a new body lotion. However, this isn’t a body lotion, per se. Confused? I was too. This is more like a lotioned perfume. This isn’t quite making sense, I know, but I swear this isn’t the wine talking. Kenzo created a moisturizing and creamy perfume!

Most scented body lotions fade quickly on the skin. Kenzo Perfumed Drop of Milk lasted a good eight hours on my skin - that’s as long as a normal Kenzo perfume lasts on me! It was so concentrated that I needed very little of the product to achieve the gorgeous Kenzo Amour Florale scent (sadly, on my first application I used way too much of the product - I didn’t realize I didn’t need to be liberal with it, what a waste!). I loved that, despite using very little of the product on my arms and legs, my skin was soft and silky feeling for hours. It moisturized as well as it scented my skin. This might be the perfect scent for summer - it’s fresh and romantic, it’s long-lasting but light (really, it has a milky liquid consistency), and it does double duty as a lotion! Win!

My only complaint is in the design of the bottle. It’s 5.1oz, which I find to be generous considering how little of the product is needed, but the top of the bottle isn’t very secure - it comes off easily. I found this out the hard way when taking the bottle to work to share with ladyboss - I spilled a decent amount of it inside of my purse. Oh well, at least my purse smells divine now!

Kenzo Amour Florale Perfumed Drop of Milk retails for $46; I received mine from Kenzo, but I would gladly have paid full price for it. I highly recommend giving this a try - why not splurge on a scent that will carry you through the summer?

  2. Love the sound of it! A perfume-lotion as opposed to a lotion-perfume. :D
