For the first time in decades I have normal hair. I finally stopped coloring my hair 3 years ago and have let it grow out for years. I got 5 inches cut off a month ago and now I have no color left in my hair. I also have no idea what to do with my hair. I have tons of half empty shampoo and conditioner bottles littering my shower because I have no idea how to treat normal hair. My hair is not dry or oily, nor am I trying to protect the color or add color to it. My hair is a mousey ash blonde/brown. (OK I just can't admit that my hair isn't blonde anymore.) So what do I do with my hair now? It's not splitting like it used to. It's not dry at the ends...and why do I keep buying shampoo & conditioner? Seriously. It's like I was so used to looking for a miracle in a bottle that once my hair was normal that miracle in a bottle wasn't needed any more. Or perhaps I just can't admit that all I needed was a good haircut. Damn. Now I have potions & lotions & gels and mousses littering my bathroom...gathering dust. I know what you are thinking. "Oh SHUT UP!" Complaining about having healthy hair is silly and stupid. But I have had such bad hair for so long I'm at a loss as to what to do? You know that part in "The Shawshank Redemption" when Ellis Boyd 'Red' Redding got out of Prison and didn't know what to do with his life because he was so used to being in an institution...he even still asked to go to the bathroom even though he was a free man? Well I think my situation with my hair is kinda like that. (No I'm not comparing myself to a man in prison for decades in the 1930's and 40's) I'm trying to say that I was so used to one way of thinking about my life (with my hair) that it's kinda hard to get into the groove of being (free) able to do almost anything with my hair. It's a nice problem to have. Don't get me wrong...but I worry about being self destructive and buying drugstore hair dye and violating my (parole) hair.

1. Blush Of The Day? - MAC Blooming! Ah Ha! NOT a Chanel Blush! Honestly this is the only MAC Blush I ever want to use. The perfect neutral pink/nude frost blush.
2. When was the last time you cut your hair? - I cut my hair at the end of April. I'm due for a trim next week or so. I have vowed to maintain this style because I don't want to see another split end on my hair ever again.
3. Latest Beauty Acquisition? - Rene Furterer - Naturia Dry Shampoo. My Dry Shampoo Staple. It keeps my hair looking fresh between shampoos. I can only wash my hair every other day because if I wash it every day I get terrible dry scalp and frizzy hair. I don't use this Dry shampoo every other day...just on days when I need a little pick me up before I have time to shampoo.
4. Who's hair do you envy? (If any) - Debra Messing. OMG her red, full body curly hair is ah-freakin-mazing. I was never really into the show "Will & Grace", but I would watch just to drool over Debra's hair.
5. Current Lemming? - The new Sephora by OPI Chic Print For Nails. They look like the Minx nails, but these don't require a professional to apply them...trust me. If there was a salon near me that did Minx nails I would get them done! Anyway. I want these in the skull pattern and possibly the Black & Gold Geometric. I wish they had more patterns.

Hair dye which I am also overdue for. DH has come up with the theory since my hair is always in most need of my roots dyed just about the time of the Red Menace, that the dye drains out of me on the tide. He's a Theorrorist Threat!

Good question. There are so many extensions being worn out there and I really don't like them. I guess for cut and color I am partial to Sherilynn Fenn's hair as Audrey Horne in the pilot of Twin Peaks.

No makeup lemmings at the moment. Other lemmings include new window treatments for my new home and a dining table and chairs I saw on eBay which we can't afford at the moment. Oh, and a job.

ReplyDelete2. I had a hair cut back in April I believe. I use to have LONG hair and then I went through that period every first time mother goes through and cut it. I had a very stylish layered LOB (Long Bob)with bangs. I have since grown out my bangs and went through a period of a layered bob because I was influenced by Drew Barrymore's updated Debbie Harry's hair of her Blondie days. Now I'm growing my hair out because I miss it.
3. Last beauty purchase - MAC eyeliner - Float on By from the Beach collectin. I wasn't able to acquire the Marine Life MSF and I'm now okay with that. I love my teal eyeliner.

Penelope Cruz - I want her hair and perfectly kohl rimmed eyes! And yes Javier Bardem would be an added bonus!

1. Blush Of The Day? - None. I got a muscle spasm in my left neck/shoulder on Saturday and it significantly worsened last night so I've basically been in bed with a heating pad all day. It's a recurring problem for me (about once every two ish weeks) but this is probably the worst one I've gotten in a while. =/ The docs can only rx me muscle relaxants, but those don't help me at all ...

(If any) - Hmmm, I don't really pay attention to peoples' hair that much, but I did always wish I was coordinated enough to have long hair and do the lovely spiral curls that are really popular in Asia and among Asian girls. I even grew my hair out for two years only to realize that a) I'm totally not coordinated enough to style my own hair and b) I don't care enough... lol. So I had it all cut off.

I have lots of shampoo and conditioners in my shower that are actually meant for coloured hair, but I find they work nicely on my non-coloured hair =S

Oh god, I remember I got one in July last year, but I can't remember if I've had another one since then. Sometime in between now and then I hacked my hair myself a couple of times. Didn't turn out too bad.

I've ordered some samples from Shiro Cosmetics, Glamour Doll Eyes, High Voltage Cosmetics, Concrete Minerals and Hi Fi Cosmetics :D

I can't think of anybody right now.....Nina Dobrev's always looks healthy and pin straight? And I like how daring Lady Gaga is with her hair as well as makeup (when you can actually see it past the crazy outfits :P)
