Great Googly moogly. I haven't been this excited about nail polish since I don't know when. I have to say that Foil Type polishes are quickly becoming my favorite type polish behind Nfu-oh Holographic polishes. They look like painted metal on my finger tips. And since I have some strange fetish with having metal fingertips I guess this is a good thing that nail polish formulas are advancing beyond the streaky frosts of yesteryear. While Minx nails are the hottest thing since sliced bread right now, the trend is expensive and not easy to find a Minx nail art professional near you. The Nubar Venetian Glass foil polishes do an excellent job of giving that mirror like metallic finish with little to no brush marks. While some metallic polishes use metallic pigment, the foil polish uses micro glitter and metallic pigment to achieve an almost metal like quality on your nails without any streaks or brush marks.
The Venetian glass collection from Nubar comes in 8 different colors, but I only purchased 3 of my favorites. You can see the entire collection here at the Beautopia Blog. Aside from having perfect application skills she has beautiful nails and has swatches galore. You should really check out her blog.
ANYWAY here are my pictures of these gems!

A deep red wine shade (Hence the name Vino) this reminds me of a long since discontinued polish from OPI called Russian To A Party, which was my NOTD for 2 years! (Yeah. I really liked the color) after going through several bottles and never finding an appropriate dupe I have resigned myself to the fact that I would never again have such a loverly shade. If I couldn't have the OPI, I could collect 1,001 other wine colored shades to make up for my loss. Here is 1,001. Nubar Vino. I need not buy another wine colored shade ever again. Metallic and wine colored? I have hit the mark on this one!
Vasso means vase or vessel in Italian. And since I'm 1/2 Italian I must need this color right? Um. yeah. Anyway. It's purple, so how could I not buy it? It's such a pretty pale purple color it almost seems out of place in a fall collection but it looks awesome on my toes for summer and will make a great NOTD for the spring. Heck. I wore it for 3 days straight on my tips at work. I hardly got any work done because I was so busy staring at my loverly nails!
OMG. Am I becoming a green nail polish addict. This is the 2nd green polish I have blogged about this month. While there are 2 other greens coming out in other brand collections (also foils) I HAD to have this one. It's a cool green base but the gold microglitter in it makes it warm at the same time. I don't know what it is about this mildew like color but I'm totally attracted to it. Granted I bet you lost your appetite for it when I compared it to mildew...but hey! More for me.Sadly my UPS driver has decided to use my house as the last stop of the day. This polish was delivered on a day when the temp went to 104 F. Which means all the packages in his truck were probably cooking for a good 15 hours in about 150 + temps. The green polish did not do well in the heat and the application was thick and messy. I may need to get a new bottle because the other 2 colors applied just fine. 2 coats and you have opaque foiled covered nails. Sadly the green was gloppy :-( Stupid hot weather!
Do you NEED these? Well Nubar polishes run about $7.50 a bottle and shipping is expensive, but I do feel that the colors and quality of the polishes are unique enough to warrant a splurge once in a while. I do wish Nubar had included a blue with gold flecks in the collection. I think that would have rounded it out better and they could have taken out one of the 2 orange shades or one of the 2 gold shades. Meh. Whatever. When I own my own nail polish empire I'll do what I want. Until then I guess I'll make do.
Wow - I really like those, especially Vino and Verde. Thanks for posting those swatches - they are great!
ReplyDeleteVino is so pretty! I'm on the hunt for the perfect red/burgundy and that looks like it would be a good addition.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous shades! Vino and verde would make great winter polishes I think!
ReplyDeleteOoh, do you speak Italian then? =D
I know the cutest half italian (half turkish) 2 year old! She speaks italian to her dad, turkish to her mummy, and speaks English at nursery and to everyone else~~!!!
Vaso and Verde are gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteHurry up with your nail polish empire, so you can make me a blue with gold glitter and a blue with red glitter :P
ReplyDeleteShakeupYourMakeup!: You're welcome! Verde is my favorite of those 2.
ReplyDeleteMegan Harmeyer: This is really a nice red Burgundy, but check out Zoya's fall collection. I think you will find a nice one there too!
Jian: I don't speak Italian. I understand more than I can speak. I translate a lot to my husband when we watch mafia movies. LOL. That little girl sounds precious!
Jackie S. Vaso is even prettier in real life!
Jade Carver: Will do! I'm working on it. The blue w/ red glitter sounds HAWT!
