This week the Pink Sith blog focuses on red lips. If you aren't a fan of red lips, please don't dismay. We'll be back to our regular self next week...but stick around because you never know, we might convert you! If you are doing a little happy dance in your seat...and we know who are you are...this week will feature red lipsticks both high end and drugstore brands, red lip stain and red lip gloss. We will try to be as thorough as we can, but inevitably we will leave out a few of your favorites. The Thursday poll will give you a chance to tell us about your favorite reds and perhaps give us, and other readers, inspiration for new purchases! Joeybunny and I adore red lips. Ever since was a little girl I wanted the red lips of the Evil Queen in Snow White.
I mean Hello She's wearing TAUPE eye shadow and has amazing eyebrows. Who wouldn't want to look like her!?
Back to the task at hand. Red lip week brings you Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics (OCC) Lip Tar in NSFW. Before I go into detail about what a lip tar is, let me explain something. OK. Here's the deal. I'm not a Vegetarian because BACON is my Kryptonite. I'm not a Vegan because I hate bugs and like them crushed up into a red paste and put into lipstick. But now that I have discovered OCC, I too can use a Vegan and Cruelty Free lip product and still get the same amazing red that those little carmine beetles give me. All OCC products are 100% Vegan and Cruelty-Free. They are also free of parabens and preservatives. So a WIN for lips right? RIGHT! (but I still hate bugs)
Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics developed in 2004 for makeup artists by makeup artists has brought innovative and high quality products front and center in the makeup world. One of their most lauded products is the Lip Tar. According to the OCC website:
"Lip Tar combines the longevity of a lipstick, with the ease of application of a gloss. Goes on slick and moist, and dries down to a satin finish. Ultra-saturated in color, Lip Tar contains an unprecedented amount of pigment - a little goes a very, very long way! An intense yet featherweight layer of color that stands up to the scrutiny of Hi-Def Video and Digital Photography, without ever looking (or feeling!) heavy. Meant to be mixed, Lip Tar comes in concise array of colors for a limitless selection of shades made by you!"
I do have other OCC Lip Tar colors to mix with the NSFW Lip Tar, but I just wanted to focus on the red color today. Want to see a bevy of other possibilities for OCC lip Tars? Head on over to Pursebuzz or Temptalia or XSparkage or Vampy Varnish...to name just a few.
OK. See the picture of the tube above and realize that the OCC Lip Tar tube is teeny. But when you find out how much you need to use per application you will be blown away. They cost just $13.00 USD for a whopping 8mL (0.27 fl. oz). Yes. That's right only 8 mL. But look...
See that dot of the NSFW lip Tar? No. Not the big glob, the teeny tiny dot. Yes. That's it. That's pretty much all you need to cover your lips. OK. Maybe a little more than that but honestly that big drop is enough to paint 4 sets of lips. I'm serious. You only need a minuscule amount to get amazing pigmentation and amazing coverage. What's even better? I'll tell you what. The OCC Lip Tars contain contains Hemp Oil, Peppermint Oil and Vitamin E! Not only will they look good, but they will smell good and FEEL good. WIN! Sure you have to use a lip brush to apply and you might want to mix it with other colors, but honestly all you need is an easy retractable lip brush and a tiny pigment jar to carry with you for touch ups. Using a lip brush is better any as it gives you more control Admit it. Compared to my other red lip posts, the application below looks the neatest. That's because I used a lip brush this time. See? I'm right.
The NSFW color is described as a Primary Blue Based Red. But honestly I get no blue base showing up on me. An amazing red that feels as light as lip balm and as pigmented as a long wear lipstick
Do you NEED this? HELL YEAH! Hi. It looks amazing, you have over 30 colors to choose from, you will get YEARS of use from a tiny tube and best of all you will be wearing a cruelty free product!
NOTE: No actual bugs were killed in the writing of this review.
