Thursday Poll (and June's Blush You Can't Have!) - By Joeybunny!

Today I bring you a very special episode of the Thursday Poll!

Since today is the end of the month, that means that it’s time for the June edition of BLUSHES YOU CAN’T HAVE! If you recall, last year Elvira and I brought you TAUPES YOU CAN’T HAVE!, because we’re sadistic bitches and we like to show you all pretty things that you can’t have. This year, we’re doing blushes: January was Chanel Joues Contraste in Poesie; February was MAC powder blush in Afterdusk; March was Shu Uemura Sakura Glow-On; April was Inoui ID blush in PK-1; and May was Chanel Joues Contraste in Turbulent.

Today also happens to be Thursday, which means that it’s poll time! What’s a bunny to do, then, when she’s faced with so many blog responsibilities? COMBINE THEM, DUH! It’s kind of like when the Power Rangers would come together to form that Megazord thing.

(Ah, I miss the 90s!)

Anyhoo, on to today’s poll!

1) Blush of the day?: Well, I’m wearing the much beloved, much coveted, and now discontinued Wet ‘n Wild blush in Naive.

I’ll never understand why Wet n’ Wild discontinued this color (it was discontinued before the brand’s entire overhaul), because this was - in my (not so) humble opinion - their best blush. The color is hard to describe: not quite orange, not quite pink, but not quite coral. Ok, maybe coral would be the best descriptor, but still - there is a decidedly melon edge to Naive.

(Mr. Octopus Ring was one of my birthday presents from Elvira!)

Whatever, the color is ridiculously gorgeous and flatters literally every single imaginable skin tone. Oh, and Naive is one of the most insanely pigmented blushes ever.

(Unblended swatch on top, blended swatch on bottom)

I have to use a skunk brush when applying it, or else I get way, way too much color on my face. Nobody likes a clown face. Clowns are scary.

2) Your favorite drugstore blush(es)?: Well, the Wet n’ Wild ones for sure! They retail for around $3USD (crap, I should have bought like twenty Naives!) and they’re ridiculously pigmented. I love Pearlescent Pink (which was not discontinued and exists in the new, revamped line), and I adore the MegaGlo powders (which have 5 stripes of color) - I own three of those, and Rock n’ Rose is my favorite.

3) Your favorite high-end blush(es)?: Oh, easy - NARS! I also do love the MAC blushes, but the LE ones are always my favorite. But NARS blushes are so dependable. I love both the powder and cream formulas. My two favorites are Penny Lane (cream) and Madly (powder).

4) Your favorite blush brush?: What a hard question! Hm, if I had to choose, probably my MAC 109.

5) If you could have your dream blush made (color, texture, formula, finish), what would it be and what brand would make it for you?: I’d want NARS to make me a shimmery taupe-brown cream blush.

  1. It's worse when a drugstore product is dc'd - when I see something I like that's high end I can always be all, 'oh well, it was too pricey for me anyway!'

  2. 1. I don't do drugstore. My fav powder formulas are Armani and Shu. Cream formula: By Terry and Le Metier de Beaute.

    2. Chikuhodo z-8 for pigmented blush, Shu 17 for non pigmented blushes

    3. A rose blush in the Shu Uemura glow on formula.

  3. Ahh. I love the Blushes you can't have series...but in an entirely evil way.

    1. BOTD is Chanel JC in Rose Ecrin. The new one from the 2011 Fall collex

    2. I don't wear or use Drugstore blush

    3. Fave HE blush(es) Chanel Joues Contraste. It's pretty much all I buy ever.

    4. I'm the same my MAC 109 is my fave blush brush.

And so glad you like the Octopus Of Apathy ring.

  4. 1) Blush of the day?: Not sure yet, but probably Too Faced's Pinch My Petals. It's becoming a summer staple.

    2) Your favorite drugstore blush(es)?: Nyx. Angel and Peach are my favorites.

    3) Your favorite high-end blush(es)?: Too Faced makes some nice ones and so does Korres.

    4) Your favorite blush brush?: A cheapy, angled one from Walmart. To be so cheap, it. is. awesome.

    5) If you could have your dream blush made (color, texture, formula, finish), what would it be and what brand would make it for you?: A natural pink matte powder with a touch of warm brown thrown in. I'm not for sure who I'd get to make it, though!

  5. Blush of the day: Guerlain Rouge Feu (discountinued)
Your Favorite Drugstore blush(es): None I think I only purchase one drugstore blush of my life and it was Covergirl and I never used it!
Your favorite High-end Blush(es): Guerlain and do have a little soft spot for Smashbox cream blushes duo and slowly but surely I'm discovering MAC blushes but i'm not a die hard fan yet (and I personally do not think MAC as high end makeup)
    4) Your favorite blush brush? Clarins blush brush and Guerlain angle blush brush
    5) If you could have your dream blush made (color, texture, formula, finish) what would it be and what brand would make it for you? It would be Guerlain, it would have the texture and the packaging of Meteorite voyage and it would be a soft shimmery coral-pink !!!

  6. 1. Not wearing blush! But I have a sweep of Guerlain's Terracotta 4-seasons in Blondes with Chanel Or on top.

    2. Like Elvira, I don't do drugstore blushes. I find the textures so often a miss that I just don't want to waste the money (it piles up eventually)

    3. Chanel JC, NARS, Shu Uemura. I'm trying to recall what I used to use before I started on JCs (just like... 2 months ago) but I'm drawing a blank hm.

    4. Currently, EcoTools blush brush, but i have yet to find a HG

    5. OMG I would totally buy yours!!!

  7. 1. My BOTD today is Benefit Corallista (100pt Sephora gift...will get full size later though).

    2. Favorite Drugstore blush is Milani, I have 3 of their mineral blushes and like 7 baked blushes.

    3. My favorite high-end blush...don't really have one yet as I've yet to plunk down the cash for Chanel or Dior, but for mid-range I like Benefit and then MAC a lot.

    4. I don't really have many blush brushes, I have an ELF studio blush brush and a pricier one from Target too forgot the name...but it's a flat brush that I use to buff the blush I applied with the ELF brush.

    5. I want a pinky/melon/coral (not unlike this WnW one) with a teeny tiny bit of shimmer in it from Benefit. I love Bella Bamba and Corallista but I want a slightly more matte color right between them. I wish Chanel would make it though, because with a color that perfect maybe I could finally get myself to pay $40+ for it xD

  8. Wanted to mention that even though I have a good amount of drugstore blush I am cutting myself off...I've recently fallen in lust with high-end items (loved them before, but now I am actually GETTING them heh) so I figure every dollar spent on a drugstore item is a dollar less on a high-end item :X

I'm with you guys who don't buy drugstore things now! Although I use them anyways, since I don't want to waste money haha. I am sure once my high-end collection grows that that will change though.

  9. 1) BOTD: I started with Illamasqua Promise but it wasn't vivid enough for the look I wanted so I added some Guerlain Blush G serie noire on top!

    2) Your favorite drugstore blush(es)?: I don't really do drugstore blushes (or drugstore anything) but I do like the Bourjois ones (which are drugstore here)

    3) Your favorite high-end blush(es)?: Nars for shimmer and Illamasqua for matte. I'd pick Deep Throat and Lover as absolute favorites.

    4) Your favorite blush brush? Mac 138 - I know it's weird but I like it

    5) If you could have your dream blush made (color, texture, formula, finish), what would it be and what brand would make it for you?: I'd love Illamasqua to mix Lover and Unrequited and make it a baked version with a bit of shimmer, that would be lovely :)

  10. 1) Blush of the day?: Nothing as usual.

    2) Your favorite drugstore blush(es)?: Physician's Formula Happy Booster™ Glow & Mood Boosting Blush In Rose

    3) Your favorite high-end blush(es)?: Clarins is the one I reach for most.

    4) Your favorite blush brush?: Errr I think Sonia Kushik duo-fibre brush

    5) If you could have your dream blush made (color, texture, formula, finish)? Hmm I think a brownish plum satin finish powder blush with subtle shimmer from Gurlain would do nicely.

  11. 1) Blush of the day?: R&R Foreplay, for the blush, but I'm also wearing some of the EL Bronze Goddess Soft Duo bronzer mostly as a blush.

    2) Your favorite drugstore blush(es)?: Um... you know, now that I think about it I'm kind of a blush snob lol. The only two drugstore blushes I have are the Physicians Formula Happy Hearts one in Rose and the Majolica Majorca Puff de Cheek in PK303. I love both of them dearly but I don't really think of the MM one as drugstore.

    3) Your favorite high-end blush(es)?: For brands, R&R and Shu Uemura hands down. I own 5 of the Shu Glow Ons and 6 of the R&Rs. I pretty much reach for my R&R blushes daily and I have to really think about using my other blushes (I'm sure I'd use the Shu ones more though, if they weren't all in UNII palettes beneath eyeshadow palettes - I really need to fix that). Other than that I adore NARS Sin and Taj Mahal (though I'm not nearly as enamored of the other blushes in the line I've owned in the past), Jill Stuart's mix blushes, my Laura Mercier blushes... oh who am I kidding? I love all the blushes I own LOL.

    4) Your favorite blush brush?: I've been using my MAC 129 pretty much every single day since I got it. It's surprisingly versatile!

    5) If you could have your dream blush made (color, texture, formula, finish), what would it be and what brand would make it for you?: Man this is hard... um... I guess I wish someone would make BE's Golden Gate in a formula I could wear (I'm allergic). Like, probably a mostly matte R&R with just the subtlest gold shimmer.

  12. 1) BOTD- it's a sorta-kinda-drugstore Blush- Flirt Popsie. Really not bad!
    2) Favorite Drug store blush - L'oreal True match, which is more like a very faint bronzer on me
    3) Favorite High End? Bobbi Brown Pale Pink
    4) I love my bobbie brown blush brush
    5) I would love it if someone remade MAC Desirous.

  13. 1) Blush of the day?: Illamasqua Nymph over a base of MAC CCB in Tickled Pink.

    2) Your favorite drugstore blush(es)?: I only have 2, one is the Maybelline Mineral Power Blush in Soft Peach which is pretty, but I'm not a fan of loose blushes. I loooove my Physicians Formula Baked Blush in Baked Berry <3

    3) Your favorite high-end blush(es)?: I've only tried MAC and NARS. I think NARS Deep Throat is gorgeous, and NARS Orgasm really pops over a cream blush like Illamasqua Emerge Cream Pigment.

    4) Your favorite blush brush?: I just use a duo fibre stippling brush.

    5) If you could have your dream blush made (color, texture, formula, finish), what would it be and what brand would make it for you?: It would be a mix between NARS Deep Throat and Orgasm (well, what Orgasm looks like over a cream base) and it would be sold by some cheapie drugstore brand so I could buy 8 of them! Orrrr maybe a legit Magenta or Lilac blush by MAC :)

  14. 1) Blush of the day? LMdB "Echo."

    2) Your favorite drugstore blush(es)?: I don't have one because the ones I've tried weren't well pigmented and just sat on top of skin. But I will try Wet-n-Wild after your post.

    3) Your favorite high-end blush(es)?: LMdB "Echo," the defunct R&R "Call Me," and one by Scott Barnes.

    4) Your favorite blush brush?: Sonia Kashuk 02. NOt even sure if it's meant to be a blush brush, and I have others, but I automatically reach for this one everyday.

    5) If you could have your dream blush made (color, texture, formula, finish), what would it be and what brand would make it for you?: Bring back R&R "Call Me," and Scott Barns! both are powders and blend beautifully.

  15. sorry i'm doing this so late. its been a crazy end of the week *cracks beer*

    1. I actually didnt put on blush today. I got way too little sleep and sacrificed a full face for an extra 5 mins

    2. I actually really liked those NYC blushes that were modeled after the MAC msf's.

    3. becca for cream and armani for powder

    4. I love my ecotools blush brush

    5. It would be a medium peach cream blush with a slight gold shimmer...and le metier would make it, or becca would be fine too.
