Fresh Sugar Honey Tinted Lip Treatment

The day I spend $22.50 for a lip balm is the day I need my head examined.  Those infamous words were spoken by ME on several occasions while I lusted after an array of Fresh Cosmetics Brand Tinted Lip Treatments.  The day came when I received a gift card to Sephora.com for my Birthday.  I decided to get a bunch of stuff I normally wouldn't purchase with my own money.  The Fresh Sugar Honey Tinted Lip Treatment was one of those items. Now lest you think I'm cheap, I spend terrible sums of money for lipsticks, so the rationale to NOT purchase a tinted lip treatment for slightly less than the cost of a lipstick makes no sense.  Let's face it. I have lipsticks that are even more sheer and colorless than the Fresh Sugar Honey Tinted Lip Treatment.

Allow me to explain.

This is the Spring/Summer of the Sheer Lip.  From Chanel to Dior to YSL sheer lipsticks have been released in a bevy of colors.  But do those sheer lipstick have actual good for you ingredients to moisturize and treat and protect your lips.  Well....not always. And do those sheer lipsticks last long on the lips?  No. They really don't. Longevity in wear is the bane of sheer lipstick wearers across the world. Sheer and pretty for an hour or more but take a sip of tea, a nibble on a croissant and that sheer lipped pucker is now a dry arid wasteland.  Not fun. Not funny.

Swooping into the rescue it's none other than Fresh Sugar Honey Tinted Lip Treatment!  With a respectable 15 SPF and Sugar, a natural humectant, this lip treatment ensures long-lasting moisture.  Add in ingredients like meadowfoam, black currant seed oil, jojoba seed oil, and antioxidant rich grape seed oil, and your lips are conditioned as well.  But that's not all it has to offer!

A light, yet buildable tint of a soft nude (tan) is added to the luscious mixture of the Fresh Sugar Honey Tinted Lip Treatment. It's a nice neutral My Lips But Better (MLBB) nude that didn't turn too orange on me, the queen of lipsticks turning orange on me after application. No. This color stayed true...and lasted.

Unlike other sheer lipsticks, The Fresh Sugar Honey Tinted Lip Treatment lasted longer on my lips because it is thicker than regular lipsticks. It is a lip treatment, after all. It has a slightly waxy feel but not a smothering type feel. It glides on the lips easily and imparts a natural satin finish. I don't look like I just ate a bucket of fried chicken after applying this lip treatment (as much as I would like to eat a bucket of fried chicken) but my lips don't look a like a waxy matte mess either (I'm looking at you Original Formula Chapstick!)  There is a light lemon scent, which is nice, but a honey or sugar scent would be better (hint hint). It has a flavor that is ever so slightly a sweet/saccharine lemon but I don't usually lick my lips so I didn't really notice it.

The best part was. My lips never felt dry. They never felt dried out or rough and they actually look slightly plumper (but that result may be in my head) I just feel like my lips are in better condition than they were before I applied the Fresh Sugar Honey Tinted Lip Treatment.  That's a huge plus!

Do you NEED this?  Well. Maybe. If you looking for a sheer lipstick that also has SPF and conditions your lips, then YES! And don't forget that the Fresh Sugar Tinted Lip Treatments come in a rose and plum color as well. This experience has changed my mind about the price, since I treat it like a lipstick I don't have as much of a problem paying for other colors (rose is calling my name) However, if you are looking solely for a lip treatment, this one is excellent and has some nice ingredients, but the $22.50 price tag may make you think twice.

  1. Hahaha I have the same twisted thinking. I've been eyeing Fresh Sugar Lip Treatments but never bought, because I think it's just so expensive. Yet I don't even think twice on spending much more on a Chanel or YSL tube of lip color that has caught my eye.

I really like the swatched color of this shade...I think it's time to reconsider 'expensive' and my flawed logic :)

  4. I use the Rose one. I will tell you one thing...make sure it stays cool because it can get soft very easily. The last time I went into the Fresh boutique they had their cosmetics brushes on sale. Fab quality!

  5. I agree with Laura, the last time I used it here in Las Vegas, it left big gloppy blobs on my lips. I guess I'll have to wait until the weather cools down to below 90 degrees, hopefully in October.

  6. I have the Sugar Plum lip treatment, its nice -not the greatest, overly priced I think. However I am in love with that lemon sugar smell. That's the only Fresh product I own. I would so love to have their whole Sugar line of products! LOVE that Lemon Sugar! Just a little too much on the pricey side.

  7. That color looks lovely on you, and the balm is much more pigmented than I expected it to be. I was thinking it would be really, really, really, REALLY sheer, but I was wrong. Obviously, I need to take a second look at these...Rose sounds like it might be right up my alley!
