It's not that I'm inherently evil but I do enjoy the sadistic ritual of showing you all products that you "can't have". It started with Taupe eye shadows and now has moved on to Blush. I might continue with other beauty products next year. This year is all about Blushes you can't have. Now, just to bring you up to speed, January was Chanel Joues Contraste in Poesie; February was MAC powder blush in Afterdusk; March was Shu Uemura Sakura Glow-On; April was Inoui ID blush in PK-1; May was Chanel Joues Contraste in Turbulent; and June was Wet ‘n Wild blush in Naive. This month I have a treat for you all from Korea!
VOV is a cosmetics company out of Korea. Judging from the quality of the packaging and such I assume that the brand is probably drugstore level if not a bit higher...perhaps mid level like MAC or Clinique. (High end would be like Armani, Guerlain and Chanel and SUPER High End would be like La Prairie, By Terry and Serge Lutens) Anyway, I found out about this blusher in September 2008 from my absolutely favorite Asian Cosmetics Blog called Lotus Palace. Kathy, who owns Lotus Palace Blog, showed a loverly picture that I just couldn't resist. I had a friend whose husband was going to Korea in 2008 for work so I enlisted him to buy makeup for me on his trip. He's a good sport. Armed with screen caps from the VOV website and almost no ability to speak Korean, he set out and purchased a bunch of things from my list! He's a really cool guy and I was even more thrilled when he came back from Korea in December and the makeup was presented to me as a Christmas present! Whoot!
The VOV Color Song Volume Blusher in 03 Pink Red Mixing was a limited edition blush I think released for a specific collection. However, the VOV site is in Korean and I wasn't able to translate it so I just assume it was the case. I have not seen this blush for sale since 2009. It came in a set with a pretty little half moon blush brush. The brush came with its own protective case, but I forgot to photograph that for you. Whoops. Anyway. the case if very sturdy black plastic with an ample mirror inside.
But the mirror is of no consequence once you gaze upon the enchanting pink, white and deep magenta marbling that this blush is made of. The colors swirl together in the pan and work in harmony with each other. The result?

Don't let the heavy swatch fool you, this blush is sheer. Once applied to the cheeks you see only a hint of color (as most Asian blushes are fairly sheer this was not a surprise to me) but it can be layered for a more intense effect. I think this bush would work well on almost any skin tone as it imparts a natural flush that is seen on most people. However it might look more like a highlighter than a blush depending on your coloring. Regardless the blush color itself is exquisite!
The texture of this blush is on the hard side but the powder is super fine. The hardness of the powder prevents fallout of the shimmer and powder alike and it makes the blush last quite a long time. The finely milled powder spreads easily over your skin and imparts an almost ethereal glow to the skin.
I did a rudimentary google search for this blush and didn't really come up with anything of use, however I'm sure one could find it on evilbay or the Korean equivalent gmarket. If you aren't familiar with gmarket there are a lot of blogs that have tutorials as to how to purchase from there. Lotus Palace has a tutorial she posted in 2008 but there are more recent tips if you google it. So there you have it. Yet another angelic blush that YOU CAN'T HAVE!

The "...you can't have" is my favorite series! It makes me laugh every time (and then cry a bit). :D
