Today being Thanksgiving I doubt many of you are actually reading this post or the one I posted earlier. It's OK. You'll read it eventually...or not. However I am not deterred from having a Red Lips Week here on the Pink Sith blog. In fact, I have amassed so many red lipsticks lately that I have actually split my Red Lips Week into two different weeks. This week I will focus on Red Lips for $18 and less. That's right. Bright, beautiful and bold red lips for under $20...many are under $10...but I'm getting ahead of myself.
Red Lips Week will feature a new red lip product, be it lipstick, gloss or some other variation, every day for the whole week. My goal this week is to show you red lip products that cost $18 or less. I believe that everyone can look good in red lipstick no matter your coloring, your lip size, your race or ethnicity. Red lipstick can transform your face. Many women are hesitant to wear red lipstick because they fear it will "look silly" or that it's "too high maintenance" to that I say, BULL! Red lips can be as easy and carefree as your soul or as prim and proper as your upbringing, or as hot and sexy as your real self actually is!
Earlier today I professed that I am a makeup snob. I also said that my view on Milani Cosmetics was not all that favorable. Well since I started using the Color Perfect Lipstick I have started to change my mind. But the thing that really turned me was the Milani Lip Flash Gloss pencil. It's a gloss in pencil form...hence the name "Gloss Pencil".
Milani defines the Lip Flash Gloss Pencil as:
"The electric lip look is defined with highly pigmented flashy shimmer colors. Create news worthy lips with extra glossy, high color coverage and moisture rich ingredients. A sharpenable, easy to use, anti-feathering and nontacky lip gloss pencil."
OK. I have to take a moment to let you all know that I copied this word for word from the Milani website. I would also like to let you know that I have no place making fun of grammar or spelling on any website...I am a terrible proofreader and even worse at grammar. However. I feel it my duty (heh I said duty) to point out that the word "Sharpenable" is not actually a word. You can Sharpen something...like a pencil. and a pencil can be sharpened...but it cannot be sharpenable. Just sayin'.
Anyhoo. This delightful gloss pencil, which can be sharpened, is a treat for the lips. It's a slightly sticky gloss but not too sticky. the pencil stays intact through 3 to 4 applications...even more if you are light handed and while I have not tried to SHARPEN the pencil yet, I'm not worried about it.
The color is straight up metallic deep red. Kinda like that red vinyl on your banana seat bicycle you had as a kid.*
The gloss is full coverage so the metallic quality really shows well. It has no scent that can detect. It lasts fairly well for a gloss, but touch ups will be necessary to maintain the pure metallic awesomeness. One quick tip: Do not rub your lips together after applying. it will create a line in your upper lip that will show through to your natural lip color. Just apply and go.
Do you NEED this? Well for only $6.99 how could you not? This gloss pencil comes in 7 other shades so even if you aren't into red you can find a color suitable for you.
*Assuming that you grew up in the 1970's-80's before kids had to wear helmets and could bike wherever they wanted without parental supervision. (Not that it was a good thing)
