It is Red Lips Week again on the Pink Sith Blog.  This week I am focusing on the "high end" red lips products.  Anything over $18.  This week I will bring you luxurious formulas, bold reds, and statement making lip products that almost any woman can wear.  But red lips are just not confined to this week. check out the Red Lips Tag and you will see over 45 entries related to red lips on this blog alone.  You're sure to find some inspiration there somewhere!

On To Today's Red Lip: ELLIS FAAS Milky Lips in L201 "Ellis Red"

This image...this image right here has made me lust after ELLIS FAAS products since I don't know when. Looks at the efficiency! Lips, Eyes, Foundation, Concealer, Blush &  Powder all in one slick metal tube!  The minimalist in me was crying out for it.

But when they came out with this image.

Sure the model looks like she has a terrible case of scoliosis but HOT DAMN that is SEXY!  Little metal clips to hold all your ELLIS FAAS products together.

If there is one thing that will make me lose all control, it's packaging!
All ELLIS FAAS products come in similar shaped pens that hold the liquid colors. When creator, Ellis Faas started developing her first ideas about the brand, she wanted the pens to be inspired by bullets. Award-winning industrial designer Arnout Visser took this idea and, together with Ellis, he started a long search for the perfect look, the best size, the right material, etc.. It has taken quite a while to get from idea to sketch to final design to computer simulation to the final product was finished, but it was worth the journey.

What is even more beautiful is what happens to the pens once they are used up.  ELLIS FAAS came up with a program ‘Make Up Not War’ which gives a "second life" to the pens. It also unburdens the environment, and gives the company a chance to raise money for a good cause: War Child - www.warchild.org.  ELLIS FAAS set up a system to get back as many used pens as possible. Visual artists (locally and internationally well-known sculptors, fashion designers, photographers, industrial designers…) will then be asked to create a unique work of art using the pens. These works will be exhibited and then auctioned off. The proceeds will go directly to War Child. Pretty Awesome, right?  More info on how you can turn in your used pens can be found HERE.

Now on to the Red Lipstick at hand. This lipstick, in it's exquisite case, is a click brush lipstick. A liquid lipstick, if you will. This highly pigmented liquid lipstick comes with a brush applicator.  I counted and it took 42 clicks to get color coming out of this brush. (when it was brand new) after that, two clicks and color came forth evenly and did not overflow the brush.

The beauty of this ELLIS FAAS Milky Lips is that the formula can be manipulated to give a full coverage look or a sheer stain.  The product is especially wonderful in that it does not feel like one is wearing lipstick or gloss or anything on their lips.  The feel is light, but the wear is long.  Best yet, the lipstick has no fragrance nor flavor and is formulated without parabens.

The color of L201, Ellis Red, can only be described as a rich, blood red.  I find blood red lipsticks to be my favorite.  They are neutral. The color doesn't lean pink or orange and it look amazing on EVERYONE!  That's right. I said EVERYONE!  Since YOU control the application Less can be More. You can control if you have a sheer lip, a "just bitten" stain. or a bold opaque lip, because sometimes More is MORE!  This color is just downright sexy. This is no other way to describe it. If you only get one red lip color this year, I think ELLIS FAAS Milky Lips L201 is the one to get.

ELLIS FAAS Milky Lips will cost you $35 USD. I'm not sure how long it will last as I have yet to finish a red lipstick since 2001, but I'm sure it will last you quite a while.  You can purchase ELLIS FAAS products from a number of boutiques around the world and on-line from the ELLIS FAAS webshop (ships world wide) and on Sephora.com .

  3. I haven't heard of this brand (don't shoot me!) but wow, both of those promo images are going to stick with me! Girl you are a lemming creator!

  4. INSTANT LEMMING. Just went to the site, drooled, then saw that they carry them in US stores and planned imaginary trips to the cities that have them.

  5. I love reading Elias Faas reviews, the pictures of the sleek chrome packaging drive me nuts! However, I know deep down inside my heart that I will never try any of the Milky Lips products. Excuse my language, but my brain makes an instant association with jizz lips.

  6. This is just divine - I haven't been tempted by Ellis Faas until now (although I've always thought the bullet-type designs were pretty cool!). I've been on the look out for a blood red for a while, this one is a strong contender in my shortlist.

  8. Do you know what the second picture reminds me of? The barbasol can in Jurassic Park with the dinosaur DNA samples LOL

  9. I just received mine in the mail (it was on backorder forever) and I can't wait to use it. But of course, I can't use it until I photo it, which I haven't had a chance to do yet. So I keep looking at it longingly every morning, waiting for the day I'll finally get to swipe its blood red gorgeousness on my lips. I'm glad you reviewed it, since I tend to agree with your choices. Now I'm certain it will be worth the wait!

  10. What perfect timing--this was my birthday present to myself, and I just got it in the mail today! I wasn't sure I liked it at first; most of my reds are of the pin-up-like blue-based variety, so this looked pretty weird to me, but now that it's dried down slightly and I'm more used to looking at it, I'm in serious love! And the feel is OMG amazing! This may be the new favorite.

  11. I showed the Ellis Faas holder to my husband (it's never too early to hint for my birthday) and I loved his response "It's Swiss-Army makeup" Now if they would just put a corkscrew in it for mommy's wine bottles...

  12. I just fired off an order for this!
    Thanks a lot, enabler! ;)

  13. I got "Ellis Red," and "gorgeous" is a seriously understated way to describe this color.
I don't like the messy liquid formula, and the packaging could be improved, but the COLOR trumps everything.
I'm a seasoned red lipstick person, but Ellis Red absolutely rocked my world.
If you like red lips, BUY THIS.
    You're doomed to a life of self-loathing if you don't. ;)
