Guerlain Spring Colour Collection 2012 - Les Roses et le Noir The Pinks and the Blacks

It's no secret that I ADORE Guerlain cosmetics.  From an aesthetic standpoint the cosmetics are as pretty to look AT as they are to wear.  This Spring Guerlain releases another collection that still lives up to it's beautiful ideals.  Guerlain tells the story of spring by pairing bursts of pink along side the intensity of black.  Sophisticated and elegant, this color collection defines femininity while also revealing one’s inner seductress.

I'm not one for pink eyeshadow, but when it's paired with deep black or maroon colors I go all weak in the knees.  Something abut the fresh innocent pink peaking out behind a sultry smokey deep plum shadow or paired with a matte black, makes it look so sexy.

Before I melt your hearts with, what I consider the true crown jewels of this collection, let me show you some of the NEW, PERMANENT products introduced in the Spring 2012 collection:

ÉCRIN 6 COULEURS EYESHADOW PALETTE - $85.00
Within one case lays 6 eyeshadow colors. The central luminous pink shade is surrounded by pearl mauve, tea rose, soft violet and soft pink, while a liner traces the eyes in an intense plum. Whether you create a tone-on-tone, couture or smoky eye look, the result is captivating.  Moonstone, the key ingredient, adorns the eyes with its silvery reflection and lamellar structure to keep the eyeshadow in place longer for a fresher look.
New permanent shade: 66 Boulevard du Montparnasse

ÉCRIN 4 COULEURS LONG-LASTING EYESHADOWS - $59.00
Each harmony of Ecrin 4 Couleurs is composed of an interplay of four different and specially selected textures to allow you to mix and match, to define your own look.
Two new permanent shades:

•12 Les Aquas- For a sophisticated and stunning gaze, this palette mixes an iridescent blue, a matte navy, a velvety turquoise and a glacier metallic blue.

•11 Les Roses- Consisting of an iridescent pink with pearl particles, a matte pink, a metallic violet, and a raspberry shade with a velvety finish, this palette allows you to create a fresh yet seductive look.

KISS KISS GLOSS – $32.00
This season lips are pretty in pink!  Kiss Kiss Gloss will melt over the lips allowing for a comfortable, long-lasting shine.
Four new permanent shades:

•869 Rose in Bloom: pure pink.

•870 Cherry Pink: a gourmand pastel.

•871 Frosted Rose: an off-white with delicate, subtle pink mother-of-pearl particles.

•872 Flush Pink: an intense fuchsia.

Now the LIMITED EDITION for Spring 2012:

MÉTÉORITES CRUEL GARDENIA - $67.00

Is this not just EXQUISITE?!?! I WILL HAVE THIS. MARK MY WORDS!

ROUGE G - $48.00
::GASPS AGAIN::
As an ode to the color pink, four new glamorous shades have been created this spring in its honor. Blushes You Can't Have #11 - Chanel Joues Contraste in Caprice

It's the end of the month.  You know what that means.  It means your mortgage is due and it's time for another installment of Blushes You Can't Have!  Last year you were tortured by Taupe Eyeshadows you couldn't have, this year it's Blushes you can't have. I wonder what next year holds.  Any suggestions?

As I am want to do, I would like to explain that this series is about blushes that are discontinued or hard to find.  That means that every once in a while you might luck out and find a hearty supply of a blush that was featured in this series.  In fact, last year many people wrote to tell me that they found Cargo Yukon, a taupe featured in the Taupes You Can't Have series, for sale on the interwebz!  To that I say Huzzah!  Congratulations! and Buy IT!!

Moving on. Let us look back at all the blushes featured so far this year.  In January we told you about Chanel Joues Contraste in Poesie; February was MAC powder blush in Afterdusk; March was Shu Uemura Sakura Glow-On; April was Joeybunny's sentimental favorite, Inoui ID blush in PK-1,; May was my hot pink  Chanel Joues Contraste in Turbulent; June was Wet ‘n Wild blush in Naive; July was VOV Color Song Volume Blusher #03 Pink Red Mixing; August was a review and a giveaway of Bobbi Brown Pot Rouge in Pink Raspberry; September was another treat from Korea, Laneige Snow Bloom Blusher; and October was the very popular and much beloved MAC Blooming Powder Blush.

This month's blush, the 11th in the series, is a blush that was released waaaaay back in the summer of 2002.

Chanel Joues Contraste Blush in Caprice.

Caprice, translated from the French means WHIM.  Huh. Funny thing about that. In English it means the same thing...only we usually use it in the form of CAPRICIOUSNESS, although CAPRICE is still an acceptable word..."With the CAPRICE of a despotic magazine beauty  editor, she alternated between kindness and cruelty."  Caprice also a model name of a car.

1991 Chevy Caprice
The Chevrolet CAPRICE is a full-sized automobile produced by the Chevrolet Division of General Motors in North America for the 1965 through 1996.

The Chanel Joues Contraste in Caprice is yet another stunning blush from Chanel.  As you know I am quite biased toward Chanel JC Blushes. I own many of them and many of them are discontinued.  In fact I have so many DC'd Chanel Blushes that I didn't even feature them all in this series.  Another excellent resource for looking up discontinued and current Chanel Blushes...or any blushes for that matter is a blog called "Blushes On Display" from my friend Cheri.  She has such an extensive collection of blushes that she can afford to have an entire blog dedicated to them.  I have another friend that has an equally extensive of Lipsticks...but she won't blog about them no matter how much I beg.  If you all could leave a comment here saying that you would love to see an entire blog about lipstick & gloss...even if they are discontinued I sure would appreciate it!

Sorry. Got off track.  OK.  Cheri described Caprice as an almost "...warm peachy-rose with some brown."  And she's right.  On her it looks like a warm peachy rose.  On me it looks like a warm pure rose. On others it is described as a cool pink, cool rose, mauve rose and shimmery pink.  This only means that this Chanel blush in Caprice looks different on different people.  This is quite the chameleon of blushes.

In the pan Caprice looks like a light cool pink blush.  But as far as upon application this blush transforms to a warm rose, almost red on me.  Now I have a lot of red in my skin, naturally, so a pink blush will only intensify it. Caprice makes me look like I just ran up a few flights of stairs, or just came in from a slightly cool but windy day.  Caprice brings the most natural of flushes to my face, and depending on what lipstick shade I wear with it, it can look warmer or cooler.  It's really a hard color to pin down.

The unique color is not the only thing that makes Caprice so wonderful, it's also the formula.  The smooth as silk formula floats across your skin and brings an empyrean radiance to the face.  The color is sheer and buildable and lasts forever on even my oily skin.  There is a slight shimmer to the blush in the pan, but none of it seems to show up on my skin. This makes it ideal for those with larger pores that try to avoid shimmery blushes.

I purchased this blush 4 years ago from an online retailer but I have not seen it in at least 2 years. As I mentioned above, while I might feature blushes that have been discontinued, you still may happen upon them on e-bay or some remote shopping website.  Keep in mind that there are fakes of cosmetics all over the place...if you think you found an item featured in this series, consider my blog a tool to make sure you are not about to purchase a fake.  I just did a web search for the blush featured this month and found a terrible fake featured on a website full of fake Chanel products.  Caveat emptor!

Leonor Greyl Holiday Bundle

Leonor Greyl is fast becoming one of my favorite hair care brands.  I have had brief love affairs with many brands but there are a few that I keep going back to again and again.  Leonor Greyl is one of those brands.
This holiday season, Leonor Greyl will offer a Holiday Bundle Set featuring 3 luxurious products for $107 Which is 25 % off of retail value.  The Bundle will be available at www.leonorgreyl-usa.com until the end of December, and will contain the following products:

Shampooing Moelle Crème de Bambou – In addition to natural active ingredients like wheat and carrot derivatives and silk proteins to protect the hair, this nourishing shampoo for long and dry hair contains bamboo marrow to regenerate damaged hair.

Masque aux Fleurs de Jasmin - This award-winning conditioning treatment is suitable for all hair types, and the delicate fragrance of Indian Jasmine Flower gives a light and airy feeling! Use either as a conditioner after shampooing or as a more intensive masque: apply to freshly, washed towel-dried hair and leave on for 10-15 minutes before rinsing.

Serum de Soie Sublimateur – This silicone-free, anti-frizz styling cream gives any type of hair a smooth, shiny look without weighing it down. Film-forming silk proteins bind to the hair for a perfectly sleek feel. Use as a styling aid while blow-drying hair or apply as needed throughout the day.

Now some of you might think that this is an expensive set. And yes. The price is up there.  But what I can tell you about the products from Leonor Greyl is that they are incredibly gentle yet incredibly effective for the hair.

My love affair started with the Shampooing au Miel that I reviewed HERE.  This shampoo made my hair so light and fluffy and bouncy and shiny. I almost didn't recognize it.  I had "Breck Girl" hair I was truly amazed at how healthy my hair looked. The fact that my fine limp hair now had body and movement  it made the delicious honey floral scent more of a treat!

Then I tried the Huile de Palme oil.  Reviewed HERE. This multi use oil not only smells divine it makes my dry hair soft and shiny without weighing it down.  I use t once a month as a pre shampoo treatment and when I wash out the oil and shampoo & condition my hair I am left with the most touchably soft and smooth hair I have ever had.  It practically reverses the damage from all the heat styling and coloring I do to my hair. OK. it can't reverse damage but it sure seems to make the time between hair cuts last longer.  That's always a money saving plus!

Will you be asking Santa for the Leonor Greyl Holiday Bundle this year?  I think I will!
