Too Faced Better Than False Lashes Mascara - Review Pictures Swatches

image from Sephora.com

I don't usually review mascaras because I find that people always seem to have different results using the same mascara...but when I was asked to review the new Too Faced Better Than False Lashes Nylon Lash Extension System Mascara icon, well....of course I said yes.  I want long and lush and thick lashes...who doesn't?  My lashes are average. Lame. I want drama!  I will say I was worried about the multiple step process of this mascara, but once I tried it, I felt that it wasn't a problem at all.

The Too Faced Better Than False Lashes Nylon Lash Extension System is a three step lash extension system that uses nylon lash fibers to give the look of false lashes to the natural lash.  Since I suck at applying regular false lashes (I'm sure I could get better with practice) I think this alternative to false lashes or expensive lash extensions was right for me.  The mascara itself acts as a base coat AND a top coat to seal the lash fibers onto the lash.  The result is longer looking and thicker looking lashes instantly!

A few other pieces of information before I show you all the pictures and results.  Too Faced Better Than False Lashes Nylon Lash Extension System is formulated without: Sulfates, Synthetic Fragrances, Phthalates, GMOs, and Triclosan.  Too Faced is also a Cruelty Free brand.  Additionally, this product has been ophthalmologist tested and approved for use by those who wear contact lenses.

Let's face it. everyone is a special snowflake and we all will have different reactions to the same product. When it comes to mascara, our special snowflakedness seems to really come through as some may adore a mascara while others may hate it.  This review is MY PERSONAL experience.  What worked for me may not fork for your special snowflake lashes.  So if you hated this product, that's cool. We don't have to like all of the same things, your special snowflakedness is just a little more special-er than mine.  That's all.  No need to get your panties in a bunch over it.

OK.  Now for the meat of the review.
According to Too Faced the research results say that the Better Than False Lashes Nylon Lash Extension System created a 98% increase in lash volume and 42% increase in lash length. I'm going to say that my personal result were not as stellar but they were still very satisfactory!

Here is the suggested usage:

Here are my naked lashes. I have used a liquid liner on top and I have also tightlined my lashes.

Step one:  Prime the lashes with 1 to 2 coats of the activating mascara to create a base to adhere the weightless, nylon fibers.

Step two: Build the volume and length by brushing on 1 to 2 coats of the Flexistretch nylon fibers to your lashes.  Make sure to  focus the fibers where you want extra length or volume.

sorry this looks so wonky. It was out of focus and I didn't realize until I was done taking pics.

Step three:  Seal the Flexistretch nylon fibers with 1 to 2 coats of the ultra-black activating mascara to create that "better than false lashes" effect. The final coat will surround each nylon-coated lash and melts the fibers into a long, thick, dramatic lash.

bazinga!

Step four: Look Awesome!

I found that not only did the fibers not irritate my sensitive eyes, they did actually work.  i have used nylon fibers before from other brands but this combo of the Too Faced Mascara with the fibers seems to work the best for me.  The more I PRACTICED with this product the better my lashes looked. The more full and longer they seemed.  WIN!  I didn't experience any lash fall out, flaking, smudging, raccoon eyes, or fiber fall out while wearing this product.I also had NO PROBLEM removing this mascara at all.  No lash loss or heavy makeup remover needed.  Just my normal oil cleanser was enough to wipe the mascara away.

Here are 2 negatives: 1) I wish Too Faced would sell a mascara refill because I feel that the mascara is going to run out before the fibers in the small bottle do. 2) I wish the fibers were black. I just think it would be easier to camouflage the black fibers than the white ones.  But these 2 negatives are so minor and they didn't interfere with me getting all the benefits out of this product.

Do you NEED this?  Yes? No? Maybe? Like I said, we're all special snowflakes, so your results may vary.  I really liked it and if this was a lipstick or eyeshadow and I knew everyone would have the same results as me I would DEFINITELY recommend it.  Too Faced Better Than False Lashes Nylon Lash Extension System retails for $35. It can be purchased at Sephora.com and soon at the Too Faced website and Ulta.  The price may have made me think twice, but the results are so worth it!

Oh and by the way, if you happen to be one of those women with naturally thick, dark and long lashes, let me just say, pay no attention to the above review. A) Because we all envy your NATURAL lashes as they are and B) You don't need any more help in having awesome lashes because if you use this your already awesome lashes, will be more awesome-er and therefore make our normal lashes that were made awesome by wearing this product look less awesome in comparison. So cut it out already!

    1. :-) They don't deserve the Tsk Tsk, it's not like they can help it. I felt compelled to do it anyway.

  3. Dern, that made your lashes look thick and fluffy. Mascara refill or not, I'd consider just buying that forever if I were you. Also, if I had an awesome flick-able eye like that, I wouldn't hate anyone.

    1. Aww. Thanks. But mind you the eye lashes are from Too Faced, as you can see my natural lashes are just average.

    1. It would be better if you talked shit about me on your own blog page without actually saying who I am and then removing my link from your blog so I only find out later on. Why be outwardly aggressive when you can be passive aggressive!?! LOL!!! If you do try the mascara I'd like to know what you think.

  6. Let me just say that your snowflake analogy really cracked me up! It's very quiet in my room and I laughed so suddenly that I startled my cat. I'm waiting for this to come in the mail...this looks gorgeous on you and I'm itching to try it even more now! Hopefully it'll breathe a little life into my wimpy asian lashes.

  7. Hi - does this product change eye color? That is the main reason I have not used the eyelash enhancer products. Thanks!!

  8. No. It does not contain any chemicals to enhance lashes. It contains polyester fibers that when coated with normal mascara makes the lashes look longer...until you wash them off. This is not a lash growth product.

  9. Very nice product. I see you tight-lined your eyes...what did you use to tight-line them? Thank you for the review :)

    1. Hi Lisa. Thanks. I tight lined with Urban Decay 24/7 pencil in zero and lined my upper lids with UD 24/7 waterproof liquid liner in Perversion.

  10. I think I need more practice with this. I may have put too much of the white fibers on because my lashes were a hawt mess!

  11. Has anyone that used this had clumpy lashes afterward? I just got this product and it works well for length, but my lashes were very clumpy and just didnt look right

    1. I usually use an eyelash comb to comb the clumps. That usually helps. I would also recommend Cherry Blooms fibre lash extensions mascara because it works a lot better than Two Faced. You'll love it more than Two Faced. I promise you that.

  12. To be honest, I didn't really notice a difference. I've tried several brands such as this, ModelCo, Mirenesse, Silk, Love Alpha, and FreezeFrame. Best fibre lash extensions mascara product is by Cherry Blooms. You have no idea how amazing it is until you try it because you can definitely see the difference. It was also featured in the Golden Globes Oscar Gift Bags so you know it definitely works better than other cheaper fibre lash brands. You get what you pay for. High quality fibre lashes that actually works.
