Baring all (well not really) in my recent interview with Jenn from the blog Literature Couture I decided that you all didn't get enough of me so I opened up my purse to show you what I keep inside...Just the makeup related stuff. No one wants to see the 2 pens, 1 Sharpie, a small package of Kleenex and my wallet, right? Right. OK.
So what IS inside of this loverly Cole Haan Purse I lug around with me every day?
First of all I would like to tell you that I have so many lip products in this purse because I didn't clean it out last weekend. i normally carry my lipstick of the day with me, and then I just keep adding to the purse until the end of the week and then I put all the lipsticks/glosses/pencils back. Buuut. yeah, some times I forget. So here it is.

Sickening, right?
It's sad really. Many women only own one lipstick. I own one warehouse full of lipstick. I have 6 lipsticks, 4 Glosses, 2 Lip Balms, and 3 Lip Pencils. Most of them are red.
But that's not all. You see I carry with me an entire book of lemmings. I write them down, go to the store, check them out and cross them off my list or buy them. My short term memory sucks so having a book of stuff I want to check out is really helpful. Plus I have a list of all my nail polish colors and Inglot eyeshadow colors in there so I don't purchase dupes!
I also have three perfumes in my bag at all times. Just in the off chance that I forget to apply some before I leave the house.. I'm obsessed with smelling good.
Hand cream? Oh I got yer hand cream right here. I moisturize like it's my job. But I still have cuticles that look like a crime scene. Oh well. I'll keep goin at it until I have the cuticles of a real Nail Polish Blogger.
But wait there's more.
Yes. My makeup bag. I actually carry a makeup bag in my purse, among all the lipsticks and perfumes and other junk.

Inside you'll find: 3 Lip Glosses, 1 Lip Color, 1 Lip Liner, 1, Concealer, 1 Eyeliner, 1 Powder Compact, 1 Lip Brush, 2 Perfume Samples, 2 Hair Elastics and one silver compact with depotted lipsticks. Oh and that thing between the perfume samples..it is an eye serum I have to test.
Yup. More lip products, The eyeliner is an awesome, I didn't have time for eyeshadow eye liner. Put it on, smudge it, look awesome, WIN!
Oh more perfume samples. Yes. Sadly one is from a perfume that is $500 a bottle. So yeah. I won't be buying that...ever.
So there you have it. It's all out there for you to see. I'm so exposed...

DeleteI'd love to see similar posts! And don't feel too much guilt about the lip products. I have just as many, if not more, floating around my purse on any given day. And I don't have the "I forgot to clean out my purse last weekend" excuse. Nope...I'm just so obsessed that I don't even do a LOTD. For me, it's more like Lip of the Hour. It's not unusual for me to change lip colors 4-5 times throughout the course of a day, depending on my mood. One for morning, one after eating lunch, one when I get home at 3:00 before I go out running errands, sometimes one after dinner if I'm doing something then. And that doesn't include the occasional "let's see what this gloss looks like on top of this lipstick!" moment.

Ah yes. It is kinda an excuse. But I usually only wear one color per day because I'm anal like that. LOL. Would you be interested in doing this for my blog?
DeleteElvira, I once upended my purse to see what was really in it and found over 30 lip products (also, mostly shades of red)and there were various lip balms strewn about my desk that weren't included in the count. I change colors through out the day and rarely apply the same color again on the same day.

DeleteThank goodness, someone else besides me carries a list (or rather a small notebook with makeup listed in alphabetical order) around in their purse. I live in an extremely small southern town so there is nowhere to buy highend makeup, so I read blogs and magazines and keep a list of things that I want or would like to try if I get to go somewhere or if I order online. Several years ago a SA in a MAC store made fun of me for doing that, needless to say I did'nt buy anything. Love your blog as usual! Katheryn R. McRae, GA

DeleteI, too, carry a little notebook with me at *all* times; we carry lists to the grocery store, right? Why should makeup be any different? I actually had the opposite reaction at a NARS counter here in Los Angeles-the SA told me she loves customers like me! Still, I'm so glad to know I'm not the only one to carry a list. My purse is too scary to even mention, though... (And don't get me started on lip products!)

DeleteI had to stop putting so many lip products in my purse because it was way too heavy haha :). I need a different makeup bag in there though, now I have my "essentials" (light lipsticks, a couple glosses, YSL sheer candys) but I never use them >.>

DeleteI counted my lippies last weekend and I had 126 not counting those up for swap--12 were in my purse.

DeleteI love it! I often wind up with several colors I forgot to put back in my purse, though usually I only wear 1-2 colors in a day. So many lipsticks stain, after all.
ReplyDeleteAh yes. Many lipsticks do stain. Is it wrong I carry gloss to put over top of faded stained lips to make a new color? No? I thought so.

I just hope your BF doesn't get smart & realize that since I'm a blogger I'm going to have waaay more stuff than the normal woman. ReplyDeleteOK. In the main purse I have Cartier de Lune in the blue box. A Solid Perfume from Luxury Lane Soap called Blush Rose It's a beautiful rose with a sharp green finish to it, and Tom Ford Tobacco Vanille EdP. Inside the makeup bag I have Creed White Flowers and Acqua di Parma Gelsomino Nobile EdP.
DeleteI really like being nosy when it is offered up to me. Hee hee! I like it when I find out I'm not the only person that can have a few random things in our purse. Like your book of lemmings. I carry bandaids. Do you know how many times those babies have helped me make it through the day!?

DeleteI have a weird fascination with seeing what's in people's purses. I definitely feel I'm limited in what I carry b/c of the size of my purse... but I haaate carrying a large purse so I'm stuck! Conundrum!
ReplyDeleteOoh. I used to be all about tiny purses. Then I had a baby and had to lug around that big baby bag. Once I didn't need it any more I was OK with a larger purse. But they can be cumbersome at times.
DeleteFunny enough, I started carrying a larger purse when I got involved with my husband. It's always, "here, hold this for me!" and "Can you carry two bottles of water in your purse?" and "OMG how much candy can we sneak into the movie theater? How much will fit in your purse??" etc etc. I swear, I'm like a candy sherpa.
DeleteI LOVE posts like these and yes, would definitely want to see more. I think it's wise and practical to carry a lemmings notebook around. Some would even say it's professional and befitting a beauty blogger to be orderly and organised. In fact, I now think that a beauty blogger without a makeup notebook is suspect (LOL). DeleteI love posts like these, they're so cool. I love seeing what other people carry around. Since I'm in college 2 pockets of my backpack are used as my purse and are quite full. On my Blackberry I have a list of what I have and what I'm lemming, started doing that the day I got home and saw I bought the same polish twice.

ReplyDeleteFor hands, I majorly recommend Lansinoh lanolin (find it in the babystuff aisle, near the *ahem* nursing supplies), Deborah Lippman cuticle remover, and CeraVe cream at night.
