Senna Cosmetics Voluptulash Mascara - Review, Pictures

There once was a princess with light and thin lashes that would never look full or in good health so she hid them behind her glasses. Alone in the castle she would cry and sob till there were no more tears left and her eyes would just throb.  Alone in a castle all chilly and cool she longed for the sunshine to shine like a jewel.  The clouds just got darker the more that she wished and her skimpy lashes just kept giving her fits.

Along came a traveler from down south, it was said, where lemon trees bloomed and the sun shone on your head.  The princess was keen to see what this visitor would bring from a land where the sun was the thing.  During court held by her father the King, the stranger produced many a wondrous thing. Grapes and figs and sweet golden wine, silks and tapestries so fine. But the thing that the princess most longed for was missing. A cure for her thin lashes was what she was wishing.

Twas then that the stranger produced from his sack, a black tube of mascara as easy as that. It looked unassuming with its black lacquer shine. There was some pretty matte scroll work that looked like a vine. The word gilded on the side read "Senna" and it made the princess' eyes sing, for never before had she seen such a beautiful thing.

The wand in the tube had a brush with a spiral at top. "It's called a wand" the stranger said with a hop.  He bowed and asked for permission to go to her side, and the princess beckoned him with eyes all wide. He pointed out this treasure is called a mascara that delivers dramatic, deep black, lusciously thick, and extravagantly long lashes to all that imbibe.

Lashes was all the princess heard as she rushed to the looking glass to observe. This mascara would transform her skimpy lashes with Hi-Tech polymers to boost strength and volume.  The stranger assured that the intended results would be long lasting and smudge-proof as he smoothed out wrinkles in his costume.

Lo and behold his claims had rung true. The princess's lashes looked as if they grew! After coating her lashes with the wand held horizontally, she tilted it vertically and applied the mascara in a side to side motion onto her lash tips assertively.  Then a sweeping up motion to finish the task she held the brush horizontally at the base of the lash. As she coated them again, her lashes were full and separated to boot. Her application skills for a first time user were quite astute!

She proclaimed the Senna Cosmetics Voluptulash Mascara a winner, and insisted the king invite the stranger to dinner.  Throughout the meal her lashes were thick and flaked not even once. The strangers had avoided looking like a dunce.  The Senna Cosmetics Voluptulash Mascara was such a success it made the King profess, "I have never seen my daughter happier than she is today." He turned towards the stranger and announced "I shall like to grant you a favor before you are on your way.".  The stranger pondered this opportunity for sure, for her had never been given carte blanche before.  He asked with a voice more timid than most for a wish he has been wishing since before the big roast. He said that he wished for all rhyming to cease, to make it a crime if one were to rhyme, for he was going to produce some fruit for the feast.  He explained that all he had were oranges...and nothing really rhymes with orange.

The End.

Do you NEED this?  Well I still think that recommending mascara is a fairly subjective thing. What may work for me, may not work for you. I can only tell you about my experience.  I found the formula thicker than others I use. It reminded me of a thicker Lancome L'Extrême Mascara or Something like Guerlain Noir G Mascara.  I used a lash comb in all the pictures, but with careful application you don't need one.  The Black mascara is very black and not ashy or grey at all. That's a very good thing.  The mascara did not flake or smudge on me, but everyone is different.  My lashes did not feel dry or brittle while wearing the mascara and it was easy to remove using my regular eye makeup remover.  If I wasn't swimming in mascara samples I would consider purchasing this mascara when I ran out. It produces great volume and I feel like I look like I'm wearing false lashes.  ALWAYS a good thing!  You can purchase Senna Cosmetics Voluptulash Mascara for $22 from www.sennacosmetics.com.

  1. Mascara really is subjective isn't it...for some reason high end mascaras just fail to impress...I hated every minute wearing the Guerlain Noir G sample I got in the mail and breathed a sigh of relief to go back to my Maybelline Great Lash Lots of Lashes (or Stiletto, or my $1.50 Daiso curling/lengthening mascara that is flippin' amazing).

    1. Totally. Sometimes the $30+ Mascara from YSL works great and other times I Love my Maybelline Volume Mascara.

    2. Indeed, it just matters what you want from your mascara I guess.

I'm just glad that I have at least ONE makeup item that I don't want to spend over $10 for, especially one like mascara that needs to be re-bought rather frequently.

  2. Great story, hehe.

I agree that mascara is subjective. I like the Maybelline Volume Mascara too. It's so... refreshingly normal :-)

    1. Isn't it? It really works well. I just wish that Maybelline would stop using those huge fake lashes in the commercials. So misleading!

    1. Hi! I will check out your blog http://chillytil.blogspot.com/

Looks like you just started. Good luck! It takes a lot of time, but if you are passionate it won't seem like "work".

Yeah. the Benefit mascara flakes like crazy on me. I haven't tried the Boots No 7 one yet.

  5. I recently received this mascara to try out too--I haven't had a chance to test it yet, but now I'm really excited! I love a drier mascara formula. And your lashes really do looked plumped up and longer!

    1. It's a little on the drier side than I am used to, but it works very well. I can't argue w/ the results.

  8. Hi Elvira! I purchased this mascara back in May. Though it's the only mascara I've been wearing because it's non-irritating to my sensitive eyes, I find it flakes down onto my cheeks throughout the day. Also I'm not a big fan of the bristle design, which I find awkward to maneuver. However the fact that it does not irritate my eyes but does lengthen and thicken my lashes immensely, keeps me coming back to it and just being more careful and patient w/ application. I too sometimes comb out my lashes after application since the product is a very thick volumizing formula.

    Just my two cents.

    PS
I'm a big fan of your foundation reviews since I have similar skin to yours. I would love to see you review newer formulas from Jane Iredale (BB cream), Bobbi Brown (Natural Finish Long Lasting Foundation), Vincent Longo (Water Canvas and Sheer Matte Foundations), and Chanel (Perfection Lumiere) whenever you get the chance. But you're probably drowning in a sea of samples so I will patiently hope and wait! :-)

    1. Hi Jackie: Yeah. That's the problem with mascaras, they react differently on everyone. I did find that using Anastasia Lash Genius is a great waterproofing top coat that makes any mascara I own, never flake or smudge. I did use the Senna Mascara without the Anastasia product but for other mascaras that flake one me, the Anastasia Lash Genius worked like a charm!

As for the foundations. Thanks for the list! I actually have used the VL Sheer Matte fdtn in the past. It was one of my favorites but I stopped using it when I couldn't find it for sale in stores. I might just have to revisit that one again. (P.S. I loved it) I usually have to pay for all of my foundation and BB creams as a sample from a store won't last me long enough to really tell if it's going to work on me or not. But I'll see what I can do. :-)
