Last week I took a vacation with Mr. Sith and Darthypie to Orlando, FL. We attended the Star Wars Celebration VI Convention. This convention was a 4 day long program with vendors, displays, fans, discussion panels, costumes, you name it. If it had to do with Star Wars, it was at Celebration VI. One of the cool things about Star Wars fans is that they are very generous and friendly. They also love to get their picture taken,. which is why I have 2 separate posts of SWCVI pictures to share with you.

I have been enjoying your pictures up on facebook SO MUCH so I'm glad to see you post them here as well. And I must say, the exact fear of being posted as a "slave leia who shouldn't be" is one of the main reasons I've never splurged on THAT particular costume! Looks like you had a ton of fun!!! :)

ReplyDeleteThat is so awesome! And I've seen some of those slave Leias... . Although in fairness, supposedly they thought Carrie Fisher was fat at first(which would explain why her costumes get smaller, lol.)

ReplyDeleteIn light of the offensive slideshow, can I point out that saying things like "There were some Slave Leias that should not have been Slave Leia if you catch my drift" is pretty rude thing to say? Granted, you didn't call anyone out because that would've been horrible, and i've been reading your blog long enough to know that's just not how you roll. Still though, it's the sort of thing where if someone is brave enough to wear a Slave Leia costume even though their body is not up to par with our expectations, then more power to them. I just think it's unreasonable to tell those people that they shouldn't have been Leia. Why? Because it hurts my delicate eyes or something? That's not cool.

You are ABSOLUTELY RIGHT! I have removed the offensive sentence. I think that's my fat insecure self making that kind of comment. Those women that weren't fashion models but still dressed like slave Leia are strong. No one is perfect and who am I to criticize them for having fun? Thank you for pointing that out. I appreciate it.
