mark. Very Sassy Eau De Parfum Spray - Review

Sassy - sas•sy/ˈsasē/
Adjective: Lively, bold, and full of spirit; cheeky.

Does anyone remember Phil Hartman doing the "Sassy" skit on Saturday Night Live?

What about "Sassy" Magazine?  The now defunct teen magazine, aimed at teenage female fans of alternative and indie rock music.

Anyone remember that?

Oh jeesh. I think all my funny references to the name of this Mark by Avon Fragrance "Very Sassy” are waaaay too old for the target demographic of Mark cosmetics.

That's so sad.  You young kids don't know what you're missing!  Back in MY day we had no interwebz and we LIKED IT!  (Actually we didn't like it because we knew no different, but now that I have the internet it seriously sucks to be without it)....I'm getting off point!

mark. is an off shoot of Avon, and while I have never used any mark. cosmetics, I am familiar with the brand.  I agreed to write a review about this fragrance for a few reasons.

1) It is Holiday time and people are looking for gifts.  Fragrance is a popular gift. Perhaps my post will help someone complete their shopping.

2) Black Currant, Jasmine and Musk.  Some of my favorite things to have in a perfume

3) SASSSSSSSYYYYY!!!

Come on. It's fun to say.

That black current and jasmine fragrance reminds me of walking in a meadow where fresh berries grow on the bushes lining the meadow and the scent of yellow jasmine wafts through the air while I stomp through the meadow in my Doc Martins!
That's Sassy!

Back in the days I wore my Docs everywhere! They were steel toe and I was a bad ass!
That's Very Sassy!

Fruit and flowers mix to form the perfect signature scent. Add in musk to soften the fragrance and give it some depth. Like the depths of my dark, black soul!
That's Sassy!

Back in the day, people at my small Southern University never met a Punk...until me!
That's Very Sassy!

The jasmine is sweeter than normal and the black currant has hints of peach and cherry in it. The musk grounds the fragrance making it veer away from the overly fruity floral "celebrity" perfumes and maintain its own individuality. Like all those individuals that shop at Hot Topic!
That's Sassy!

Back in the day we didn't have pre-made punk rock clothing. If we wanted to look Punk Rock we MADE our own stuff, because THAT is how punk is done!
That's Very Sassy!

Very Sassy is an Eau de Perfume that is supposedly "amped up for lasting impact." I think it smells nice, is not overly heady or cloying but does not last all that long when I wear it.
That's Sassy!

Back in the day I left when I wanted to, I didn't ask for permission!
That's Very Sassy!

mark. Very Sassy EdP retails for $30 (not bad if you ask me) and the body lotion retails for $14.  A nice buy for anyone on your holiday list, no matter how old or how young they are!

I'm so sassy I'm giving away a little prize for one lucky winner.  Three mark. Fragrance Pencils.

  1. Well, that was SASSY.
I loved Sassy magazine so much. I used to have every issue until my mom threw them out when I left for college. I still haven't forgiven her that.

  2. I remember Mark once had two perfumes I really liked. They were Hollywood Pink and Hollywood Pink Flamingo. Came in cute little round bottles. I miss those scents.

  3. I loved SASSY Magagine. I felt like it spoke to me. I didn't read Seventeen because I wasn't 17 and in my mind, i needed to be 17 to read it. I would peek at Cosmo though, wondering what all the fuss was about regarding sex.

  5. 1+1=2 I feel smart!

I had a subscription to Sassy magazine before they cancelled it. They replaced it with YM, which also got cancelled.

  6. 1+1=2 I can math! Sadly I don't remember that skit, but I never watched SNL that much, it looks pretty funny from the screenshots though. Side note, I found this blog while searching for Ineke reviews and I am SO glad it's active! :D

  7. a) 42 because this is the answer to life

I loved Sassy, Sassy, and might love this Sassy. Phil Hartman was the best thing that ever happened to SNL. I loved that skit extra because I read the magazine. I also read Seventeen and was obsessed with big city fashion and beauty. I mean, they had stores devoted to only ONE designer and fancy light blue nail polish! And there I was using a Sharpie to paint my nails black because my mom banned black nail polish from my house...

  8. B) 2!

And I don't have a clue what Sassy was or is, lol. I like saying it though. Sasssssssssssy! You're right, it feels so good!

I remember the skit & the magazine. Man, I loved Sassy magazine so much. It was so much better than all the other teen magazines. Then all the other magazines changed to try and be like Sassy, but they were not. They're still not as cool as that magazine was. I miss Sassy... :-(

  10. I am laughing outloud at your Sassy references...love it!

Back on topic, I have several mark. fragrances and love them - one of my favorites being Bohista from several years ago. I'd love to try this one out!

  12. Hahahaha, no I do not remember the Sassy skit or the magazine, but I do know that you are a hilarious human being and the club can't even handle you right now.

And, 1+1=2 (b), which is the extent of my mathematical knowledge (not really, but really).

  13. It is tragic that SNL skits from the Phil Hartman era can't be found anywhere. Isn't that the one where Jason Priestly hosted? That was one of the most funniest episodes everrrrrrr!!

  14. Thanks for the Phil Hartman fix- those episodes were the best! Hahaha I used to read Sassy magazine too. But don't look in my closet, because I still wear my Docs. They've been trampling meadows (and the occasional flower bed) for years, and I have no intention of ever getting rid of them.

  21. B. I'm afraid I don't remember either! But now I want to look up that skit. "Sassy" is a favorite word in my house, ever since a boutique opened up in town with the name Sassy Lady, and then bought their strip mall location and renamed it Sassy Plaza.

    Sassy!

  22. B! (Though I was tempted to put A, because well, answer to the universe!)Alas, I'm not familiar with that skit or the magazine. That scent sounds, well, sassy (pardon the pun) though! Also, never seen anything like those pencils either, which makes me ever so curious about them. :o

    ReplyDelete
  34. The answer is B (2).
I don't remember the Sassy skit, sadly.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Answer is B, and NOPE, sorry! I'm not that young, 23, so I don't know if it's my age or my ignorance. But I never lived a day without internet in my entire life, so maybe it is my age!

    ReplyDelete
  36. It's two. Or '10' in binary code...

I'm probably just about old enough to remember them but being UK-based I was never exposed to either example of Sassy-ness.

    ReplyDelete
  37. 1+1=2.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Yes, Sassy was secretly indoctrinating me against the patriarchy.
