Thursday Poll

Today is a truly special day. Today is Lisamarie, from Beauty Crazed In Canada's Birthday!  That's right. My favorite Canadian after my Cousins from Toronto, but before Bryan Adams is Lisamarie.  Her wit, while not always apparent in her concise reviews on Beauty Crazed, is awesome. She is ALMOST as funny as me.  She has the same dark and dry sense of humor as me. It's as if she is my sister from another Mister!  She definitely knows how to dish it out, and is usually dishing it out to me.  I have written several nail sticker guest posts on the Beauty Crazed blog, much to her sadistic amusement.  I keep going back for more because I enjoy seeing her happy with my misfortune and because I am hoping that one of these days some of those Canadian readers will venture across the border and visit my blog.  Of course,  Canadians do visit but never stay long. I think it is because of my constant jabs at the 51st State. (Canada). I like to make fun of Canada because a) It's easy because Canadians are too polite to tell me to stop, b) I still have not forgotten or forgiven the Canadian invasion of 1775, c) The Canadian Mounted Police are too cute with their red uniforms and horsies to take seriously, and d) I'm secretly jealous of their astounding health care and sexy leader of the Liberal Party and Member of  Parliament, Justin Trudeau. I mean look at this guy:

Right? Cute!  And here is a shot with facial hair, which I think he should have kept.  Rawr!

I mean in America we totally do not have sexy politicians that ALSO have awesome ideas for leadership. At least not the likes of Justin!.  Of course in America,  we don't have MMA fighters like Georges St. Pierre either. Hello!

No, we have fighters like Nick Diaz.  Derp!

In Canada, or as I like to say, "America's hat", they have formidable Hockey players. Players like Gordie Howe, Bobby Orr, Wayne Gretzky, and Mario Lemieux. We have impressive Hockey players too, but I'm too lazy to look them up, and the Canadians I just listed are from memory. I don't know the names of any great American Hockey players. That could be one of those mind control tricks that the Canadians play on us poor unsuspecting Americans.
But I digress. The point of this Thursday Poll is to wish Lisamarie a very happy 41st, 29th, 52nd, or 33rd birthday! I have no idea how old she is, but I'm hoping she is as old as me, so I don't feel so old.  Misery loves company, as they say. HAPPY BIRTHDAY LISAMARIE!
On To The Poll!

1. Blush Of The Day? - I decided to go for a warmish pink, so I put on Chanel Joues Contraste in Rose Initiale.

2. Are you familiar with Beauty Crazed In Canada Blog? -  I of course, am familiar with it. If you are not, you really should check it out. I personally try to avoid reading it because I always end up with a long shopping list of products I want/need. Damn that Lisamarie and her bewitching ways of making me want everything!

3.  Since Canada is known as the Great White North, what is your favorite cold weather body lotion/cream and do you like white nail polish? - I guess my fave cold weather body lotion is from Kiehl's. Creme de Corps is pretty much my favorite product to keep my skin hydrated. I do not like white nail polish at all, but I do own a few. The one  would wear all on its own is ManGlaze Mayonnaise.

4.  Do you like to watch any Canadian Sports? (ex. Hockey, Curling, Canadian Football League, Something else I forgot to list) - I love to watch Hockey. I also love to watch hockey when The Washington Capitals are playing AND winning. (The winning part is key.) I don't understand the draw of curling, and unless I know the players I don't care about the CFL. I am a Washington Redskins fan, and that's all there is to it!

5.  Recent Beauty Acquisition? - NOTHING!  I know, right?  I have been trying to be good. I do plan to pick up replacements for my Anastasia Strawburn Brow Powder and Urban Decay All Nighter Makeup Fix Spray, but that's it!

  1. 1. BOTED: just finished my makeup (these days i do it while my son is napping) and threw on e.l.f.'s duo blush/bronzer palette. It's my go-to when I don't want to think too much. Super neutral.

    2. I am, thanks to you. I go over there periodically and make lists of things I need my Canadian family members to pick up....

    3. Body Shop Butters saved my skin last winter during my pregnancy. That and jojoba oil. I moisturized like a freak to prevent itching and stretch marks and that....it worked until after he was born and then the stretchies appeared....anyways, I took better care of myself than I ever had and it really showed me the difference so I am trying to be equally kind to my skin now. /loooong answer.

    4. As a dual citizen, I ADORE hockey. I root for the Leafs and also the local Flyers. Could care less about football but I used to watch curling on CBC. Equestrian events are big during the summers, used to watch those too, as well as figure skating all winter. Sadly, American coverage of any sports other than football and baseball sucks *** (unless you have cable, I guess- we don't) so I don't get to see much anymore.

    5. I have been preeetty good on my 4 month no-buy (mainly of colour cosmetics). I bought a new mascara to try last week (Revlon Lash Potion) and returned it.

  2. 1. Blush Of The Day? - Be a Bombshell, Beach Please, which is fitting, because this is a beach day!

    2. Are you familiar with Beauty Crazed In Canada Blog? - No, but I'm always excited to learn about new, wonderful beauty gurus!

    3. Since Canada is known as the Great White North, what is your favorite cold weather body lotion/cream and do you like white nail polish? - BagBalm. Sounds gross, and it is gross, but it helps all of my dry skin issues.

    4. Do you like to watch any Canadian Sports? (ex. Hockey, Curling, Canadian Football League, Something else I forgot to list) - Hockey. I LOOOVE hockey. It was a big thing for us in the Midwest, too.

    5. Recent Beauty Acquisition? - Maybelline LE summer lip gloss and color whisper in the coral shades. Delicious, hydrating, and really beautiful. Oh yeah, and inexpensive. Two thumbs up.

  3. 1. Blush Of The Day? - I've fallen completely bonkers for EXPOSED by tarte. It's nothing like I thought it would be and THAT'S SO GREAT! It looks like it might be brown, but it's actually a soft rose color AND IT'S GORGEOUS. So I did a little layering (I wanted a brighter flush today) with NATURAL BEAUTY from tarte as well.

    2. Are you familiar with Beauty Crazed In Canada Blog? - I am not, adding her to my feeddler now.

    3. Since Canada is known as the Great White North, what is your favorite cold weather body lotion/cream and do you like white nail polish? - My favorite lotion/cream is Ro's Argan Body Conditioner by Lush (it's not TECHNICALLY a cream, it's an in-shower product you put on when the skin is wet then rinse off) it's made with Argan Oil and smells like HEAVEN (they say it's "Rose Jam") and has really helped my parched skin. (I have to wash my hands after I use it though) YES I wear whte nail polish, mainly as an accent or with polka dots on it or glitter. I prefer China Glaze White Out White.

    4. Do you like to watch any Canadian Sports? (ex. Hockey, Curling, Canadian Football League, Something else I forgot to list) - I love Hockey, but I always want to PLAY it, not watch it. Then I end up falling on my butt on the ice and laughing.

    5. Recent Beauty Acquisition? - Air-Buffed BB Creme (SPF20) in Vanilla Glow by Too Faced and EXPOSED Amazonian Clay 12 hour blush by tarte. I did a write up on my BB Creme on my bloggity-blog too.

  4. Uuuummm... We have Marco Rubio & Mitt Romney, just to name a couple!

    1. I just woke up, so nothing yet...

    2. I've read it a few times, based on links from here.

    3. For face, I love jojoba and/or argan oil; for body, Nivea Creme (the one in the big tub), Lubriderm, or Aquaphor. I have *very* dry skin. As for white nail polish, I prefer a pearl finish; however, I'm looking for a cream that isn't streaky and/or patchy.

    4. I love watching a good game of ice hockey. I don't care who's playing, what country they're from, or any of that. A good game is a good game.

    5. NARS D. Gorgeous, UD Secret Service, and Kat von D True Romance Ladybird palette. I'm on a matte eyeshadow binge...

  5. 1. Blush Of The Day? - None. I know, shocker. But it's a bank holiday here today and I haven't left the couch.

    2. Are you familiar with Beauty Crazed In Canada Blog? - no but I'll go and have a look, I must say I don't read many Canadian blogs partly because they have access to products that I have no access to here (Marcelle...) and it's too frustrating.

    3. Since Canada is known as the Great White North, what is your favorite cold weather body lotion/cream and do you like white nail polish? - LRP Lipikar balm, and I used to like it when I was 18 and Chanel released one and it was so edgy. But not anymore.

    4. Do you like to watch any Canadian Sports? (ex. Hockey, Curling, Canadian Football League, Something else I forgot to list) - We really don't watch those here, we don't even have the possibility to, that i know of.

    5. Recent Beauty Acquisition? - the Dior Nude Paradise Tan in Coral Glow. I needed another bronzer like a whole in the head but I couldn't pass on it.

  6. 1. Blush Of The Day? - mark by Avon's Just Pinched ( a cream stick) in Nude, with a little highlight of Merle Norman's Party Pink, I think (it's discontinued and the name is a little worn-- palest shimmery pink).

    2. Are you familiar with Beauty Crazed In Canada Blog? -

Nope. Is she familiar with mine? I will check her out.

    3. Since Canada is known as the Great White North, what is your favorite cold weather body lotion/cream and do you like white nail polish? - The Peace Bridge to Canada is 20 minutes from my house! I haven't found a lotion I love, since I had to stop using Bath & Body Works thick body cream due to irritation from the scent. I'm still looking.
I do like white nail polish, but my cuticles are so terrible from my chronic illness, I can only wear sheer sparkly or shimmery ones, just now, although I'd prefer a heavy off-white cream shade.

    4. Do you like to watch any Canadian Sports? (ex. Hockey, Curling, Canadian Football League, Something else I forgot to list) - Used to watch hockey, don't really watch TV anymore.

    5. Recent Beauty Acquisition? - Garnier's BB Cream ( my first), and Avon's cream Eyeshadow in Winter Taupe. You'd love it! It's a sheer but buildable shimmered grey taupe. Makes a great primer, too. Not sure how it would wear on oily skin, but it has some staying power on me-- I have another shade of this. Oh, and from Ulta, (I'm stocking up, okay??) I just got in the sweet bareMinerals Lip Gloss in Sprinkles, a translucent pale gold with sheer gold shimmer. Smells like vanilla cupcakes. Love it so much I bought one for my Mom.

  7. 1. Blush Of The Day? - Kat VonD's freebie blush from Sephora (available just recently w/ the 100 points in the beauty insider bonsu). It is a lovely peachy/pink color. Love the color.

    2. Are you familiar with Beauty Crazed In Canada Blog? - I of course, am familiar with it. If you are Nope but I will check it out.

    3. Since Canada is known as the Great White North, what is your favorite cold weather body lotion/cream and do you like white nail polish? - White nail polish looks like White Out. I don't like it. I do like pale nail polish, but there has to be at least a little color to it. For cold weather I like to glob on a thick body cream - anything will do as long as it is nice and heavy.

    4. Do you like to watch any Canadian Sports? I don't watch any sports - none. In fact, I don't watch anything at all. No tv. But, I have no interest in sport and know nothing about them and when someone says "I went to see the Redskins" I don't even know what sport they are talking about - AND I LIVE IN D.C.

    5. Recent Beauty Acquisition? - I got a great big box of goodies from Sephora just yesterday. I orderd it becuase I wanted the 100 point blush I mention in the first question. I also got a Lorac eyeshadow pallet kit that came w/ a gell purple liner, and primer base. A body mit srubby thing because I went to the Korean bath (Spa World) last weekend and the lady there scrubbed me down w/a similar mitt and I was soooo smooth afterwards. I also got Jennifer Aniston purfume, which is not wonderful - but it was $8 and made triple points on my order. (The only thing positive I can say about it is that the bottle is attractive.) Also a Tarte VIB bonus pack that includes some stuff, and also got some mascara and a big handful of samples. Enough goodies to keep me busy for a while.

  8. 1. Blush Of The Day? - Smashbox Halo Longwear blush in Warm Glow

    2. Are you familiar with Beauty Crazed In Canada Blog? - No I am not. But it looks like I should be... ;-)

    3. Since Canada is known as the Great White North, what is your favorite cold weather body lotion/cream and do you like white nail polish? - I really like Garnier's body lotion with shea butter for extra dry skin. And I generally don't like white nail polish. Reminds me too much of typex.

    4. Do you like to watch any Canadian Sports? No. But I don't like to watch any sport.

    5. Recent Beauty Acquisition? - The five new Scented Treats polishes from Revlon's summer collection. Sniff my finger! ;-)

  9. 1. Blush Of The Day? - MAC At Dusk. It's so pretty, I've been wearing it non stop since I got it last month.

    2. Are you familiar with Beauty Crazed In Canada Blog? - Ask me in about an hour...

    3. Since Canada is known as the Great White North, what is your favorite cold weather body lotion/cream and do you like white nail polish? - Mine is also Creme de Corps. And I've never really worn white nail polish, but I think I'll try it this week.

    4. Do you like to watch any Canadian Sports? (ex. Hockey, Curling, Canadian Football League, Something else I forgot to list) -I do not discriminate, all sports, regardless of country of origin, bore me to tears.

    5. Recent Beauty Acquisition? - Oribe Dry Texture spray. I am not quite sure how I lived before owning this. Which means I don't know how I lived before Tuesday. That's kind of sad.

  10. You are too cute and I thank you for your (mostly) good wishes and thinly veiled barbs!

    1. Blush of the Day - Maybelline Bouncy Blush in Peach Satin - mostly just because I like to say the words Bouncy Bluxh!

    2. Am I familar with Beauty Crazed? No, sounds stupid and Lisamarie sounds like she should be committed!

    3. Fave cold weather cream which I wear year round because it's always winter in Canada (I don't wear it when the igloo freezes it of course) - The Body Shop Body Butter in Satsuma because the smell reminds me that summer will be coming... some day... I love white nail polish, especially when it has just a hint of a shimmer to it like Essie Waltz - also if you are ever at a boring party put on some white lipstick and arrange yourself in the ice bucket, the white lips and nails will make people assume you have frozen to death... good time!

    4. Hockey is a religion, not a sport - don't you know anything?!

    5. Recent Beauty Acquisition - Philosophy Total Matteness Pore Refiner - perfect for shiny people who don't normally like toners because they are drying! I am expecting us to have a happy summer together! (If the igloo ever melts)!

  11. 1. Blush of the day - none today; too lazy and headachy to deal with anything more than lip balm.

    2. Beauty Crazed? Afraid not, but I should be :)

    3. Cold weather lotion/white polish: My fave cold weather lotion is FAB Ultra Repair Cream. Love that stuff! I'm kinda iffy on white polish; it's good on french nails and as an accent, but wearing it on its own...eh. no.

    4. Canadian sports - I don't watch *any* sports, Canadian or otherwise! ;)

    5. Recent beauty acquisition - I just placed an order for the new Guerlain Shine Automatique (Corail Ora, from their summer collection) and a Bobbi Brown sheer lip color.

  12. I love this post! You're a riot as always. That Justin dude is mighty fine.

    1. BOTD--Tom Ford Wicked. I just had to get it and it's sick how much I love it.

    2. Beauty Crazed?--no but I will follow now that I know.

    3. Cold weather cream/white nail polish--Cetaphil cream in the big tub. Sinks in and obliterates dry itchy winter or summer burnt skin. I detest white nails, the furthest I go is Essie Mademoiselle.

    4. Canadian sports--I love hockey when I happen to catch it. My husband has been sick of American sports lately and he started watching British league soccer. I love watching it too, the commentators and athletes are so much more interesting and eloquent! Worth the extra cable channel for sure, beats the bozos at ESPN.

    5. Recent beauty acquisition--Deborah Lippmann's Careless Whisper nail polish and Tom Ford blush brush (to use my Wicked with, hahaha!!)

  13. 1. Blush Of The Day? - None today. Dealing with a breakout, so it's concealer and prayer, voodoo or something to speed the healing.
    2. Are you familiar with Beauty Crazed In Canada Blog? - I've heard of it before but checked it out again, and signed up for the newsletter, because she promised to feed me grapes.
    3. Not a white nail polish fan, but an off-white is okay. Though I love a polish named Mayonnaise on principle alone. Winter lotion/cream: I like Aveeno and Eucerin, but I'll try anything to keep from crumbling into dry, flaky dust.
    4. Used to watch more hockey, but not so much these days.
    5. Recent Beauty Acquisition? Some textured polishes by Jessie's Girl and Milani.

    ReplyDelete
  14. 1. Blush Of The Day? - NARS Luster, my go-to "IDGAF what I look like but I don't want to look bad" blush. Goes with everything. Loves it.

    2. Are you familiar with Beauty Crazed In Canada Blog? - Yes. When you're practically a blogging dinosaur you know almost everyone haha.

    3. Since Canada is known as the Great White North, what is your favorite cold weather body lotion/cream and do you like white nail polish? - I don't really have a particular favorite cold weather body lotion because I don't really live in a place where it gets cold lol. But I like Body Drench's Tahitian Manoi Oil whatever lotion from Sally's. Smells heavenly! And white nail polish YES. It's one of my favorite pedi colors actually - OPI Alpine Snow.

    4. Do you like to watch any Canadian Sports? (ex. Hockey, Curling, Canadian Football League, Something else I forgot to list) - I love hockey!!!!!!!!!!!!! Can't wait to watch the Ducks eliminate the Red Wings from the playoffs tonight!

    5. Recent Beauty Acquisition? - my set of Julie G gumdrops polishes (3 of which had to be thrown out because they arrived broken). Groupon refunded my money, but I'm still bummed about the whole experience and haven't even had the heart to try the remaining 3 usable polishes.
