NARS Night Rider and Night Porter Nail Polish

When I'm not searching for the perfect Taupe Eyeshadow, I usually am buying Blush. But when I'm not buying Blush, I am hunting down the perfect Black Liquid Eyeliner, but after that, I'm totally buying nail polish.

Mr. Sith has never once said a thing about all the makeup I have. He has a wall full of Comic Books and Action Figures (still in the box) so he doesn't have much room to talk. But for some reason he has an issue with my nail polish collection.  Whenever I buy a new polish he makes a remark like, "Oh good.  You were running low.". I understand nail polish has a very long shelf life, but you see, there are just so many colors out there that I can't help myself.

I recently found myself attracted to the new NARS Night Series polishes and just HAD to pick some up when I was at Neiman Marcus the other day.  I was compelled. I swear it. No, the Sales Associate didn't hold a gun to my head, I just had this strange feeling that my life was less than complete. But as soon as I saw those NARS polishes I knew that buying at least 2 of them would fill that empty space in my heart left by Marc. He was a guy that stood me up in 10th grade.  You know what?  It did. I am no longer bitter about that jerk Marc and his stupid skater haircut.  He was short anyway.

So here I sit with two, TWO new NARS polishes.  I then realize there are my FIRST polishes from NARS.  This momentous occasion required a special swearing in ceremony, a sacrifice to the nail polish gods and a parade.  Once all that was done, and all the ticker tape swept under the couch, I was able to get down to the business of polishing my nails.

Night Rider Polish is described as a Soft Plum with Silver Glitter.  It looks more like a warm lilac to me and in addition to silver glitter there is a silver glass fleck that gives this polish a lovely metallic look.  The polish applied easily with only 2 coats and was fluid.  The brush was perfect and the drying time was fairly good.

The wear was very good. I went 4 days without chips and only minimal tip wear.  But the most important part, it just looks BEAUTIFUL!  Now of course when I see the words Night Rider I can't help but think of

Knight Rider the TV show from the 1980's  In fact I can't help but start humming the theme song in my head. Knight Rider was David Hasselhoff's break out role.  Look how young he was back then.

But I'm not done!

There is a second polish to be adored.  That polish is called Night Porter.

Described as black with green pearl, this dark dark green polish can double for a black polish in certain light, but when hit with the right light is sparkles green as an emerald in the night. P.S. Emeralds are my favorite stone - Natural ones, not the lab created ones, and as few flaws as possible please)  For example,

this necklace would make a lovely birthday or anniversary gift, if one was so inclined to buy it for me.

But I digress.  Night porter applied as easily as Knight Night Rider. The brush was the same, the formula as well, and while I have not had a chance to wear it as long as Night Rider, I expect the same performance from it as far as wear.

Now I have no clever images or puns regarding the words "Night Porter". I mean, what is that anyway? A guy that tends to your baggage in the night? I know it was the title of a controversial 1974 film directed by Liliana Cavani. It's a film about a WWII concentration camp survivor and her tormentor, currently the night porter at a Vienna hotel, meet again thirteen years later, and fall back into their sado-masochistic relationship.  Um yeah. No thanks.

I think I'll rely on my standard fallback Night Ranger.  (I Know it's Night Porter not Ranger...but I love adding in a Night Ranger Reference any time I can.) You know the band from the 1980's.  They had the Hit Song "Sister Christian".  Man, I love that song. Night Ranger is so cheesy. The epitome of 1980's Arena Rock.  Get your Bic lighters out people.  The flame will make the NARS Night Porter nail polish absolutely dazzle!

Do you need these polishes?  Yes!!  NARS Nail Polishes retail for $17 USD each. NARS Nail Polish has incredible color and shine.  According to the NARS Website "...prolonged gloss retention with UV protection to prevent polish discoloration. An advanced polymer system provides extended wear and a durable, chip-resistant finish." NARS polishes are Toluene, Formaldehyde and DBP free.

  5. I love NARS nail polish! My inner 13 year old girl adores the glittery awesomeness of Arabesque. Night Rider is really special and I hope Mr Sith appreciates how good you'll look wearing it while playing with his Boba Fett action figure.

  9. I generally don't "euphemism" until my second cup of coffee (Alas! Poor Boyfriend) but I like where your head is at Elvira!

  10. Xenia: I know exactly what you mean. Boys always want euphemisms 1st thing in the morning.

  11. While I'm not sure I specifically need either of those, I have always found NARS shadows to be outstanding in durability and application terms. I don't know why they don't get more love.

  12. GreatSheElephant: I agree. NARS shadows are awesome! I only have a few NARS duo e/s and I love them. You know, Joeybunny LOVES NARS shadows and has done a few reviews on this blog as well as on her own blog, here: http://toomanyeyeshadows.blogspot.com/

  13. I just bought Night Flight (the blue one) but I also just had my nails done so it will be a week til I try it. I was so close to buying the green but I'm not ready to venture into green quite yet on my nails.

Your review has made me excited to use mine.

  15. MarciaF (Beauty Info Zone): Oh yes. the blue one looks amazing. I finally got over my fear of green by wearing the brightest green possible to work one day. Now everything else seems conservative in comparison. LOL

  16. The Mighty J: I think Night Porter or Night Flight would look amazing against your skin tone!
