Makeup Wars - Battle of the Taupe Eyeshadows FACE atelier Metallic Taupe - Review, Pictures, Swatches

Beauty Blogger Makeup Wars! Battle of the Taupe Shadows

You know I love taupe eyeshadow. ALL the taupe eyeshadows.  I know some of you love taupe too!  Well a few bloggers decided to get together and form a group called Makeup Wars.  We will all post about the same subject every 2 weeks or so and we will link to all the other members in each post. It's sort of a round robin type blog posting.  For our inaugural post AKA "War" we are doing a Battle of the Taupes! Since I have pretty much reviewed most of the taupes I own, and I wanted an excuse to buy more taupe shadow. I picked up a long time lemming of mine to feature in this post.  You know how I feel about taupe, but now you get a chance to see a lot of other amazing bloggers feature a taupe and see how they feel about them too!

On to the Battle Of The Taupes!

I have talked about my love of the white foundation that FACE atelier sells by the name of Zero Minus, but I have longed for their eyeshadows.  One in particular, FACE atelier Metallic Taupe.

FACE atelier is a Canadian company that focuses on making women appreciate the looks they have and not hiding behind a wall of makeup.  Another nice thing about this company is that FACE atelier products have not been tested on animals. They do not buy ingredients from vendors who test on animals, nor do their vendors buy from manufacturers who test on animals.  Cruelty free at its best!

Metallic Taupe. It just SOUNDS awesome!  I'm all about awesome taupes.  I have a scale of awesome for all my taupes.  It is divided up into "Classic" taupe, "Purple" taupe, "Grey" taupe and "I'll call it taupe but it's probably just brown" taupe.  Just as a point of reference Shu Uemua ME Silver 945 is the most awesomest taupe in the classic category.  But since that color is long since discontinued, I endeavor to find a "dupe" so that if, on the rare chance I use up my Shu ME 945, I'll have a suitable replacement.

Enter Stage Right FACE atelier Metallic Taupe eyeshadow.

It's certainly is taupe.  That perfect mix between grey and brown.  That comforting shade of taupe. It's a warm blanket on a cold night. A soothing honeyed tea, a sweet embrace.  It's THAT kind of taupe. It's a taupe I could make a commitment to. It's a taupe I could, if I was forced to join the witness protection program and never buy makeup again because that would reveal my true identity, wear every day for the rest of my life.

FACE atelier Metallic Taupe eyeshadow texture is smooth and satiny. It's not as metallic as I would have thought but it's still beautiful.  The pigmentation is good and it applies like silk on a well primed eye.  I wore this shadow all day and I experienced no creasing, fading or fallout (using eye primer).  FACE atelier eyeshadows are the same size as MAC shadows so they can fit in MAC palettes or you can get your own FACE atelier palette to hold the shadows in.

Here are some comparisons of FACE Atelier Metallic Taupe to some of my other beloved taupes in the same color range.  This is the Classic taupe range.

In order of Awesomeness you can see Shu ME 945 is the most awesomest color followed by Addiction Flashback.  Then comes FACE atelier Metallic Taupe then Burberry Rosewood and then Chanel Safari. And when I first purchased Chanel Safari over 6 years ago, I thought THAT was the most awesomest taupe.  As you can see Chanel has been eclipsed time and time again.

So you NEED this?  Well if you love taupe...and what kind of MONSTER would you be if you didn't love taupe...then YES!  You NEED this.  You can purchase FACE atelier eyeshadow for $17 USD directly from the website.  And now click on the MakeupWars Picture at the top of this post to see the next beauty blog post about their favorite taupe or use the link list below.

  4. There needs to be a "Taupes R Us" store or emporium where taupe lovers could get all of their lemmings in one place! Thanks for the swatches. Metallic Taupe is a really pretty eyeshadow and Addiction Flashback is really calling my name.

  13. Oh. My gosh. I love these. I'm super fair-skinned and have light blue eyes, so I think the taupe shadows with a bold black liner would be TDF. I'm usually into more matte than sparkle because of my day job, but I think these would fly no problem. Earth tones and all, ya know.

    1. Oh yeah. This isn't sparkly it's more satiny. YOu could totally pull it off for work. I work in a really conservative office and I wear it w/ no issues. :-)
