Sally Girl Shimmer Stripes in LOL - Review, Pictures, Swatches

As part of the Makeup Wars $20 Face challenge I set out to find a multi tasking blush or eyeshadow that could also use as an eyebrow powder.  As luck would have it I found some incredible makeup bargains at my local Sally Beauty Supply and a multi-tasking item to act as my blush and eyebrow enhancer!   I chose the Sally Girl brand Shimmer Stripes in LOL (rolls eye again at complete lameness of using Internet text speak for names of makeup products).

This time, unlike with the Shimmer Stripes in OMG, I am using this product for it's intended use, as a blush/bronzer.  However I did use one of the stripes of color as an eyebrow powder. (I have red hair and I found a nice match between the 2nd stripe from the bottom and my hair color so I used it as such.)  Since I am not "using as directed", please consult the ingredients at the end of this post if you have sensitive eyes and use at your own risk.

The stripes range from Bottom to top
Golden Shimmer
Rose like Bronze
Pink-ish Bronze
Copper Bronze
When all stripes are combined, the color looks like a super frosty pinkish bronze.

OK. Here is the thing.  This product is FROSTY as all heck. Were talking super shimmer to the max.  It's not a "glitter bomb" as there is no glitter in it, but I'm pretty sure that if you wear enough of it, the astronauts up in the Space station will be able to see you, like they can see the Great Wall of China from space.  I'm not joking. Sally Girl Shimmer Stripes in LOL is so frosty!
How frosty is it?
It's so frosty that when you put a magic hat and scarf on it, it comes alive and teaches you about the joys of Christmas and winter and blah blah blah.

Thank you. I'll be here all week.  Don't forget to tip your waitresses and try the veal!

But seriously folks, (I'm not serious. It's just makeup) This is exactly what it says it is. SHIMMER!  If you like shimmer then YAY for you.

If you're like me and have pores the size of moon craters, then you miiiiight want to sit this one out.  Sure it worked well for the challenge but it's not something I would wear every day.

Do you NEED it?  Well it's only 79 cents.  That's right. $0.79. It's not like you are spending a lot of money. The pigmentation is excellent and the product lasted fairly well on my cheeks (not as well on my eyebrows).  It would be perfect if you needed a little pick me up for not a lot of money. It's perfect if you love shimmer/frost.   The only thing I don't like (aside from the high frost level) is the packaging.  It's flimsy and cheap .  I guess I'll say Maybe with a leaning to Yes.  I purchased this at my local Sally Beauty Supply store.

Talc, Mica, Nylon-12, Zinc Oxide, Ethylhexyl Palmitate, Bis-Diglyceryl Polyacyladipate-2, Dimethicone, Tocopheryl Acetate, Phenoxyethanol, CI 77499, CI 77491, CI 77492, Titanium Dioxide
This is the shimmery blush on me. I tried to buff out the shimmer but eventually put a pressed powder over it to tone it down. At least the eyebrow color worked well.
