Rouge Bunny Rouge Original Skin Blush in Delicata - Review, Pictures, Swatches

Why is it so hard to write about a product that I love so dearly?  I purchased the Rouge Bunny Rouge Original Skin Blush in Delicata from Zuneta months and months ago.  So long ago I was still taking pictures outside waiting for sunlight through the clouds.  So why, now when I have literally reached pan and have completely finished this blush can I not put a few words together telling you all what a staple it has become in my daily makeup routine?

This unsung hero in my makeup case is a blush with no equal. It is quite possibly the perfect contour color I have ever used in my entire life.  And remember, I date back to the Paleozoic Era so I have some experience with contour blushes.  The blush is sheer. I mean like second skin, airbrush sheer. It imparts such a natural look to the skin that I question if it is made from fairy dust and wishes.

The color is a tawny brownish rose. It's hard to describe accurately because it is s sheer that it will look different on different skin tones.  I will admit that when I first purchased this I was expecting more of a pink color and I was slightly disappointed.  But then I thought I might use this for a contour and that is when the magic happened.

Hen applied in the hollows of my cheeks and the sides of my nose, the Rouge Bunny Rouge Original Skin Blush in Delicata transformed my face. I looked "sculpted", "defined" "chiseled". I HAVE CHEEK BONES AGAIN AND A SLIMMER NOSE!  Sorry to shout, but after years of just going through the motions with a contour I have finally found a contour blush that actually CONTOURS!

Now I know what you are thinking. "Elvira, there are a bevy of contouring products out there that are far less expensive.  Why do I need this one?"

Well my frugal minded friend. You are absolutely correct. There are less expensive contour blushes out there.  You probably have one yourself.  However. I have found this one and I love it and I learned not too long ago that I could waste all my money buying products to try and replace a beloved but high priced item or I could just buy the high priced item and save my money for other stuff.

So yes. this blush retails for approximately $31 USD on Zuneta and Beautyhabit. That is high as far as blushes go.  But the fact that It is the most perfect nude beigey rose with the slightest hint of peach, and it gives an illuminated glow, and  accentuates my cheekbones creating...actual's a small price to pay for such perfection.

What say you?  Do you contour? Do you have a favorite contouring blush/product?

  1. This is a great blush, in fact I have 4 of the RBR blushes and they are all awesome. I just use it as a natural low key blush or just to add some color to my face when I look like death warmed over. I have to say though with the cost of drugstore makeup these days rather than buy 2 or 3 pieces you can save your money & buy 1 high end piece of makeup that makes you happy.

  2. If a product really works, like this one, it is worth the price. Because, as you say, you just end up buying tons of others to try to replicate the same thing.

    Been there done that~

I really am enjoying your blog. I remember the paleozoic era too, those were the good old days.

  3. Aw, I love the flower print. I have to say I don't really contour though. I have a long, slim face so I don't want to make it look even more narrow.

  4. Well, when you consider NARS Zen is $28, and Revlon Photoready Bronzed & Chic (matte bronzer) is around $15, both of which I use regularly for contour (and the Revlon needs a heavier hand, thus more product used), $31 is not that much. I agree, once you find a product that works, stick with it. That said, although I'm currently loving Zen (I'm still tan ATM, at about NC15), I don't know what it'll look like as my tan fades, so I'll look into this some more.

  5. Been wanting to try RBR products especilly their eyeshadows. Thanks for introducing RBR blush too :) I might take look at zuneta later.

  6. Like you, I'm as white as a marshmallow. I've never been able to contour properly no matter how many youtube videos I watch or blogs I read. Perhaps I've never found the right color. You've given me hope! Unlike 'Kiss and Make-Up', I have a round shaped face where my cheeks completely dominate. I'd love to find a color/technique to contour properly to give myself some definition. Thank you for the great review.

  7. I don't think $31 is especially expensive, especially for a staple product. When you hinted at expensive, I initially thought it would be Chanel-level or more. Then again, maybe I've been buying blush for so long and in such quantity that I've lost all contact with reality.

  8. I love love love this blush. It's my go-to, gentle contour, subtle blush colour - it's not just the colour, the texture is fabulous too - no shimmer, but has a satin glow, not chalky. Perfect for wearing with a red lip too.

  9. SOOO pretty! I can't decide whether I want this one or Habanera! I was hoping this would be more pink too, but I still hear such good things about it that I want to try it anyway

  10. I own Gracilis, but when I read this post I knew I had to have Delicata too - if it not only has the perfect texture and pigmentation of Gracilis, comes in the same cute box but also is what I'm searching for at the moment - the perfect countour color, then I NEED it.

But, and I suspect it's because of this great review, it's sold out at Zuneta now - but the minute they get it back in stock...:D
