Let's look at what was in this month's bag, shall we?
I feel terrible that I forgot to photograph the bag itself, but it is a sturdy medium/small navy bag with what feels like a satiny fabric. It is a decent size for larger makeup items that might not fit in the smaller makeup bags that I have, but to be honest, I use these bags to store samples, so I'm not terribly picky. The inside has a lovely attention to detail with the ipsy brand name label stitched in.
But look at what is in the bag itself!
Hellooo. Full size nail polish and makeup brush. How ya doin' travel size Argan oil that will last me months, body butter that smells incredible and volumizing hairspray that will fit in my purse. So nice to meet you!
This travel size (2.5 oz) is quite generous and perfect for my bedside table. Pacifica is a brand well known to me, I have drooled over their scented products in Sephora for a long time. Now I finally have something from them, and I have a feeling it won't be the only item I will have. This body butter feels sensational and smells even better. I like citrus scents in the winter because they remind me of sunny summer days. This is a terrific little pick me up for those winter blahs. As an ipsy member, I can get 20% off my purchase at pacificaperfume.com with the special code they provide on the ipsy website.
We all know about Argan oil by now. If you haven't heard of it, you must be living under a rock. Josie Maran is one of the leading sellers of Argan oil and Argan oil infused products. This 5 ml glass bottle with dropper is perfect for travel and for your purse for those Argan oil emergencies that one might have. What is an Argan oil emergency? Well if you have to ask, consider yourself fortunate for not knowing what it is. I am particularly in love with the Josie Maran Argan Oil infused mascara, which has been sold out on sephora.com forever, so the code that ipsy gives for 15% off of $45 purchase or more at josiemarancosmetics.com will be put to good use. I needs me some mascara!
Now I have no shortage of nail polish in my life, I'm almost ready for a helmer to store it all, but I certainly will not turn down MORE nail polish. Nailtini is a brand I have heard about for a fairly long time, but never had the opportunity to try it. Now I have an excellent opportunity with a full size (0.5 oz) nail polish! tinibeauty has more colors than this classic red (Bloody Mary),
Sexy Hair Spray & Play Volumizing Hairspray (retail $6)
Who doesn't need to have an extra mini hairspray to chuck in their purse or overnight bag? OK. Maybe nuns and oil rig workers, but besides them, this little can of hairspray is pretty handy. Given that it is humidity resistant, this kind of spray is a must have for me. If it's not drizzling rain it's humid as heck for most of the year, It will be nice to have something that can withstand the weather here. As an ipsy subscriber, I can get $5 off purchase of $25 or more of "Sexy Hair Products" at ulta.com (or I can print out a special bar code from the ipsy website and get the discount in store.)
SOHO “Get a Grip” Crease Brush (retail approx $8.99)
I'm pretty picky about my makeup brushes. They need to be "just so" for me to purchase them. This is a brush I probably wouldn't purchase for myself. It's not that it's a lousy brush or poor quality. No, all of that is just fine. It's just too fluffy and big to be a crease brush for me.
Overall another EXCELLENT ipsy bag. The total retail value of this month's bag is $41.99! I'm so impressed. I honestly am. I am ready to recommend this with only having received 2 bags. If you wish to subscribe, click HERE. I will not receive any points or special favors for referring you as I don't even think ipsy has a referral program. I have been told there might be a wait list to sign up. I had to be on the wait list myself. What I did was subscribe, provide my billing info and wait. Once a subscription slot came open, ipsy notified me and asked if I still wanted to subscribe. Once I confirmed that, it was smooth sailing from there.
What do you think of this month's bag? Do you have an ipsy subscription?

OMG this looks so good
ReplyDelete:-)
DeleteI just got mine yesterday. Also my second month. I used to be subscribed to Birchbox, but got really tired of itty bitty samples, and tea or granola. I'm really digging Ipsy though, and this box is no exception. I love seeing that shiny fuchsia envie in the mailbox too!
ReplyDeleteYes. When I see that bubble mailer all metallic-y and Fuchsia-y I get excited too! :-)
DeleteI had canceled after my first bag and reinstated after seeing this via email last month - this one is great!
ReplyDeleteSweet! I hope it continues to be good for you!
DeleteWe love ipsy too: this was our 4th bag, and ALL have been superb (we are also former BB subscribers, which I must say was totally under-whelming). Only good things to say about ipsy, love that we actually get MAKEUP and things we will use (no nasty food bars or foil packets :)It's also great that EVERYONE gets the same awesome stuff, with variations on color based on their profile (imagine that, they USE the profile!!!) And we love the youtube videos Promise puts out, OMG, she is crazy-good at makeup!!
ReplyDeleteI haven't seen the videos from Promise yet, but I plan to watch. She is really beautiful!
DeleteAlright! I might have to indulge in an IPSY subscription now! :) Love that Big Sexy Hair hairspray too.
ReplyDeleteDooo Eeeeett!
DeleteLoved my Ipsy bag, too! :) Thanks for the share.

Hi Sarah! I'm so glad you like the ipsy bag too! If you want to be added to my link love list, please send me an e-mail. I prefer that people not leave their blog URLs in the comments. Thanks!
DeleteOh I got the concealer brush and the light pink/peach nail polish instead :/ I actually really hoped for the red nail polish but I remember checking my profile for "natural"...maybe that's why I got the lighter color. But this bag is still pretty cool! :D
ReplyDelete-sillylilacs
Ah, so they do pay attention to those profiles we fill out! I think the lighter color polish is very pretty as well.
DeleteUgh I have an ipsy subscription and my bag seems to still be stuck in "Greensboro NC". It was supposed to be delivered yesterday, but its still not here :(. So excited for this bag. My Birchbox was full of skin products, and this ipsy's got some favorite hair products of mine. I've talked about Josie Maran's argan cheek stick on my blog and I've used the oil on just about everything. So excited! Hope I actually get it! :/
ReplyDeleteHi! If you see this response, please leave a link to the review of the cheek stick in case people want to see it! I hope you bag arrived safe and sound.
DeleteWow, value for money indeed :-) I'm usually skeptical about bags like these, but this one seems pretty good!
ReplyDeleteA very good value. I can't say that every bag will be like this, but it certainly seems to be a good value none the less.
DeleteThis was my first ipsy bag, and I'm loving it. I ended up with a pale pink/peach nail polish (Frappe) and a concealer brush rather than a crease brush, but I'd rather have the concealer brush as I don't think I had one prior. I'll give it a shot, anyway. Very, very glad I dropped one of my other boxes to get this one.
ReplyDeleteYse. Wise decision to drop another box to get ipsy. I think the concealer bush is a good one to have!
DeleteI can't wait to get this bag. I think it is one of the best ones for a while...so happy for no lip gloss.. LOL. I swear 4 out of the past 6 months have had a gloss.
ReplyDeleteOh yeah. I just realized that this bag had no lip gloss. LOL. They do seem to give those out like candy, don't they?
DeleteI cancelled all my subscriptions but this looks like a bag worth having--you convinced me to sign up!
ReplyDeleteReally? Awesome! I can't wait to read your reviews!
DeleteI've been wanting to join one of these sorts of things because it's fun to get a little surprise treat once a month. I like having something to look forward to getting in the mail and $10/mo. isn't bad. Thanks for reviewing these you have definitely saved me a lot of trouble and money, I just signed up to be on the waitlist for ipsy...this one seems like it is really the most worthwhile beauty subscription service!
ReplyDeleteAnd better yet ipsy is semi local :) At least we watch the same news channels haha
DeleteI was really happy with this month's bag! I received the nude Frappe Nailtini instead of the red. And I'm a big fan of the body butter's scent. It smells so wonderful and summery.
ReplyDeleteThat nude color looks really pretty and yes. that body butter smells heavenly!
DeleteThis is my first Ipsy bag and I love it. I cancelled my Birchbox and subscribed to this after reading your reviews. I will definitely be buying more Pacifica products, and I already use the hairspray so it's convenient to have the travel size. Also, I've been using this brush to blend concealer on my blemishes. It works awesome for that as it doesn't move the concealer too much but makes the edges look natural.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea! I'll use the brush for concealer! Thanks for the helpful tip!
DeleteI love Ipsy! Their bags are great and totally worth the $10 each month. I used to subscrobe to Birchbox too, but I actually just canceled that subscription. Not only is Ipsy kicking Birchbox's ass, but Birchbox in general was just so underwhelming. I can't believe everyone raves about it the way they do with the stuff they include in each box!
ReplyDeleteYeah. As you might have seen from my last few reviews, BB is starting to really annoy me. Thank goodness for ipsy, right?
DeleteI totally agree with you about Ipsy. I had zero interest in it when it first launched. And in the months that followed it actually annoyed me.
ReplyDeleteBut then the name change and the reinvention began...and well, they sucked me in after all. December was my first month. (so two bags so far). And i LOVE it!
I really think they are one of the best subs out there.
I give them tons of credit (and now my money every month) for turning themselves around! This month was a fabulous bag!
Yes. I agree 100% with everything you wrote. The re-branding has worked wonders!
DeleteIpsy really has just been getting better and better as the packs go on. I've got subscriptions to both Birchbox and Ipsy, and while Birchbox seems to be taking a nose dive when it comes to samples lately (laundry soap? In a beauty box? So not what I signed up for), Ipsy has been really impressing me and giving me samples that I actually end up using. I've been a loyal Birchbox customer, but I'm this close to booting them to the curb if their samples don't improve. Thanks for sharing! Now I'm off to test out that Argan oil on my hair. ;)
ReplyDeleteWow, BB sent laundry soap?!
DeleteEek. Seriously even if it weren't a beauty bag, laundry soap is such a lame sample to include! You can get laundry soap freebies everywhere on the Internet. Why would you want to pay money for a sample of it? Especially, as you said, in a flipping BEAUTY bag!
I would be totally pissed.
Hope that argan oil worked in your hair! I know getting the laundry detergent from BB really floored me. I was like WTF?
